No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric) novel Chapter 673

Noelle stared at Cedric's strikingly handsome face and recalled Ruth's words. The latter had mentioned that Cedric was still hiding something from her.

Noelle didn't want to doubt him, but she couldn't control the unease creeping into her heart.

Cedric's voice was hoarse as he muttered, "What are you referring to?"

"I've always had a question—why did you hide your identity to work as a school doctor? Was there a special reason?" Noelle calmly asked as she looked straight into his eyes.

Cedric's heart burned with alarm at hearing her question. The truth lingered on the tip of his tongue, but fear sealed his lips shut. He'd finally managed to mend things with her, and he couldn't bear the thought of losing her again.

Now, thanks to Noelle, he discovered the driver from the car accident might still be alive. That meant the accident wasn't as simple as it seemed. There might be other dangers hidden behind the truth.

Cedric's plan was to investigate the truth and confess everything at once. If the accident had been orchestrated and the Liddell family's driver had arranged it, Noelle might perhaps hate him a little less if she found out.

His lips pressed into a thin line, and he said, "Yes. There was a reason."

Noelle withdrew her hand.

Cedric's heart clenched almost instantly. "Some things… I can't tell you yet. I—"

"Fine. I won't ask then." Noelle's voice was calm, but her eyes looked different now. They were distant and almost unfamiliar.

Cedric panicked. "Noelle, I—"

"I understand. Everyone has their reasons and secrets they can't share. Mrs. Greene Senior is seriously ill, and we shouldn't do anything to upset her."

She pushed his hand away and continued, "I have things more important than love to deal with, and so do you, so…"

"There's no 'so.' I don't want to hear that. I'll talk to Grandma. She doesn't dislike you."

Anastasia was just worried Noelle would get hurt.

Having made up his mind, he turned and left the ward.

When he saw Tilly standing outside, he instructed, "I'll send more people to assist you. No matter how much time or money it takes, find out the truth about the Liddell family's car accident as soon as possible."

Tilly nodded. "I'll do my best, but there's something I haven't had the chance to report to you."

Cedric stared at her and said, "Go on."

"Through Ms. Cantrell, Ms. Liddell discovered that the auto repair employee is closely connected to Mrs. Merlock, and we found that someone else from the Merlock family was in the car during the accident.

"But we have yet to confirm the exact nature of the auto repair employee and Mrs. Merlock's relationship. Do you know anything about this from back then?"

It'd been years, and investigating the past would take considerable time. But as someone at the heart of elite circles, Cedric might hold some crucial clues, just like Mia.
