No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric) novel Chapter 702

Samantha lowered her voice and sneered. "Let me tell you something; Laura is working with Greene Corporation on this project. She'll be having regular business dealings with Mr. Greene.

"A clueless idiot like you can never compare to her working abilities. She can help a man shoulder his professional burdens. What can you do?"

Noelle hadn't expected the Merlock family to be involved in this project with the Greene family. When she recalled the way Emma had treated Laura, her heart sank a little. She stood up and did not bother to respond to Samantha.

That was when a large group of sharp-suited business elites entered the venue. Bruce and the other school leaders led the way.

Noelle saw Cedric dressed in a deep navy blue suit. Tall and elegant, he stood out among the middle-aged businessmen.

As soon as he appeared, many female students couldn't help but look his way. Ladies at their age could never resist such a handsome and capable man. Everyone started whispering and trying to figure out who he was.

Then, a striking woman in a white business suit walked over and stood beside Cedric, flashing an elegant smile. As Laura stood at Cedric's side, the two looked like a power couple.

Samantha smirked smugly. "See that, Noelle? Look how well Laura gets along with Mr. Greene. How could a country bumpkin like you think you can compete with her?"

After her sneering comment, she marched up to Laura. "You're finally here! Someone who has no business being here had the nerve to sit in your seat. Who knows what she's scheming?"

Laura looked up and immediately saw Noelle. Her smile deepened. "Ah, it's Ms. Liddell. I'll have someone arrange another seat for you."

"No need. You're too kind, Ms. Merlock. How could I have a guest arrange seating for me? Please have a seat," Noelle said as she stepped aside.

Laura stiffened as she clenched her teeth. Then, she turned to Cedric and gently said, "Let's take our seats, Ced. The exchange event is about to begin."

"When has anyone ever said anything about me not having a seat?"

Samantha scoffed. "Your seat's at the entrance, isn't it? You do look like one of the receptionists."

Laura put on a magnanimous smile. "Ms. Liddell, why don't you come sit with me?"

Noelle noticed the fake sweetness on her face and felt a wave of inexplicable discomfort. She smiled faintly and said, "There's no need for that."

With that, she turned and walked straight to Cedric to sit in the empty seat beside him.

When Laura saw this, the smile on her face faded almost instantly. Was Noelle publicly provoking her? Did she even realize that the Greene family had caused her parents' deaths?
