Noelle had never understood what the Merlock family had to do with the car accident. After all, the two families didn't know each other and had no past grudges. But now, she knew.
The Merlock family had wanted to win the bidding for the clean energy project, so they bribed her parents' driver, who turned out to be Sean.
Noelle was instantly overwhelmed with heavy thoughts. "I investigated it. The Merlock family celebrated winning the bid in advance that day, so who in Aldoria carried out the accident? Which Merlock family member was behind it?"
Cedric hesitated and replied, "Maybe the person in the backseat of the car had nothing to do with it."
"How could they not be involved? Most likely, they were in it with the Merlocks."
Cedric's hands gripped the edge of the table tightly, and his heart sank. He was starting to realize that he'd been set up by the Merlocks.
He hadn't needed to take the Merlock family's car but ended up in that vehicle due to a sudden mix-up. And that car was the cause of the death of Noelle's parents.
Ruth had hidden everything so well, and he'd always believed the crash was just a tragic accident.
As he investigated deeper, he was increasingly shocked. The car crash from back then was most likely arranged in advance by the Merlocks.
Noelle clenched her teeth. "The Merlock family bribed Sean, but he's still alive. Who was driving the car then?"
The clues on the Merlock family's side all lined up, but when it came to the driver, something still didn't add up.
Cedric was silent for a long time before he finally said, "Only by finding Xenia's father will everything come to light."
He'd been investigating that car dealership for a while now but still couldn't find any trace of Sean. If it weren't for the picture Tilly took, he would have doubted if he'd seen the right person at all.
It was odd that someone could be so well hidden that even he could not investigate.
Noelle took a deep breath. "Yes. This is the last missing piece of evidence."
