No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric) novel Chapter 720

As soon as Averie knelt down, people nearby began to gather and watch as they whispered among themselves. Given that Noelle was now rather well known at the campus, the number of onlookers gathered at the scene grew more and more.

Grace shoved Averie aside and shouted, "Cut the crap! Every student at this university has had their fair share of trouble from rumors being spread online!

"I've always said that the forum should have been cleaned up a long time ago. It's good that the university is finally cracking down on it. Perhaps people like you will stop making things up and spreading false rumors."

Mia chimed in. "Besides, the university is only punishing the ones who spread the rumors. If you're getting punished, it means that you've had a part to play in this."

Averie's friends replied, "But Averie didn't mean to do it! Isn't the punishment way too harsh?"

"Can't you give her a second chance?"

Noelle stared at them coldly and said, "Give her a second chance, you say? There were plenty of other students who had their photos taken without permission, only to be posted on the forum with captions about how they were being in shady relationships with older rich men. This isn't the first time something like this has happened."

A pretty-looking girl among the crowd stepped up and sneered, "It's hardly the first time they've done this. They've pulled the same crap on anyone that they don't like."

Averie's body shrank further. She was too scared to say anything.

Noelle had already expected them to be serial rumor spreaders. She looked at Averie and said, "Don't try to guilt-trip us. You not only owe me an apology, but you also owe one to every single person that you've hurt."

The crowd erupted, "That's right! She thinks she can get away with it just because she's dating the head of the Journalism Club!"

"Other than sleazy rumors, she had also falsely accused others of theft to the point of forcing one of her dormmates to drop out!"

Grace held up her phone and sneered, "Might as well take a photo of her and post it on the forum. I bet a lot more people will come forward and talk about all the stuff that she has done.

"People aren't blind, you know? There's no need to place yourself on a moral high ground."

The students gathered around the scene continued to talk as Averie scrambled to her feet and ran away, seemingly terrified of being caught on camera.

Grace lowered her phone and continued, "She kept on talking about freedom of speech when she was taking photos of others. But now that she's on the receiving end, she's running with her tail between her legs!"

Noelle smiled and replied, "Let's go back."

They were no longer in the mood for a walk anymore. Not long after, Grace pulled out her phone to check on the school forum and saw that many of the students were now discussing the false rumor incident.

Noelle was in disbelief at how well that mysterious president came up with excuses.

Xenia then started bragging. "You probably don't know about this, but because the president of PZ Group is making his first-ever public appearance at my wedding, tons of wealthy families are trying to cozy up to Donovan to receive an invitation. Lots of rich people will be attending my wedding!"

She felt rather triumphant as she continued, "Even Mrs. Cantrell and Mrs. Merlock will be attending!"

Both of those upper-class women who were looking down on her back then were now lining up to attend her wedding.

Noelle raised an eyebrow and replied, "You're in charge of the AI project now. They're attending the wedding for business, not for you."

"You're right. Donovan said that you were supposed to be the one in charge, but since you didn't want to do it, I had to take your place instead."

Xenia's eyes were beaming with pride, seemingly happy that she had finally one-upped Noelle. And at the wedding tomorrow, she was going to make sure Noelle paid for the humiliation she suffered at the Cantrell family's banquet.

She wanted nothing more than to utterly destroy Noelle's reputation!
