Chapter 154 Morning Tension
Amelia was completely disgusted by his behavior.
Her stomach churned. She took a step back to put distance between them, her face turning icy.

“Ethan, this is the last time I will say it. Get out of my room. If you don’t leave now, I will call Mason right
away.”
She was not joking.
After speaking, she really turned and walked toward the nightstand, reaching for the phone on top.
The name Mason instantly crushed all of Ethan’s arrogance.
The partnership agreement with the Rowe Group had just been secured, and the first large payment promised by the Everett Group had not yet arrived.
At a moment like this, he did not dare take any risks, let alone gamble on how much Amelia mattered to
Mason.
“Fine. You win.” He forced the words out through clenched teeth. Anger burned in his eyes, but he still backed down. I’m leaving.”
He turned around in frustration and started to walk away.
But before he could take two steps, a maid came running down the hall, panic written all over her face.
“Sir, something is wrong. Ms. Isla had a nightmare and won’t stop crying. Nothing we do can calm her down. Ms. Hannah is so anxious she’s about to faint.”
Ethan frowned hard at once.
The anger on his face vanished, replaced by worry.
Without even sparing Amelia another word, he hurried toward the back garden.
Amelia stood in the doorway, watching his rushed retreat.
For the first time, she thought that Hannah and her daughter putting on such a dramatic show and keeping Ethan completely occupied, so he had no time to bother her, might not be such a bad thing.
The chaos of the night left Amelia restless.
At the first hint of dawn, she got up early.
Not because she was diligent, but out of pure instinct to avoid trouble.
She wanted to leave before the Rowes woke up.
The villa was unusually quiet in the early morning, broken only by a few clear bird calls outside the window.
Amelia changed her clothes without putting on makeup. Her bare face looked cool and refined. She picked up her bag and quietly went downstairs.
She slowed her steps on purpose, careful with every move, afraid of disturbing this brief calm.

But when she turned the last corner and saw the dining room, her heart sank anyway.
The long mahogany table was laid out with an elegant breakfast spread.
Ethan and Isla were already eating.
Isla ate quickly, as if she had been starved for days.

“Slow down. Don’t choke.” Ethan placed a piece of toast spread with strawberry jam onto her small plate. His voice was full of concern.
Isla looked up and gave him a flattering smile, her cheeks puffed out as she spoke, “The food at Mr. Rowe’s house tastes the best.”
Ethan’s expression softened even more. He pulled a napkin and gently wiped the crumbs from the corner of her mouth.
“If you like it, eat more. You can have it every day from now on.”
The promise sounded like something meant for family.
Amelia stood in the shadow at the entrance of the dining room, coldly watching the warm scene of a caring adult and an obedient child.
She quickly looked away and turned to leave through the front hall.
“Stop.”
Ethan’s voice suddenly came from behind her.
He had noticed her.
Amelia paused.
“Where are you going?” he asked.
“To my studio.” Her reply was short.
Ethan frowned.
He put down his fork and knife and wiped his hands with a napkin.
“Come eat breakfast. After that, I’ll take Isla to school and drop you off on the way.”
On the way?
Amelia sneered inwardly.
From here to Isla’s private school, and then to her studio, meant crossing nearly half the city.
Those two places were nowhere near each other.
