After breakfast, Ethan went to the garage to get the car. Amelia followed behind Isla as they walked out of the villa, one after the other.
When Isla saw Ethan’s car parked at the gate, she suddenly stopped dragging her feet. She broke into a run and rushed over.
She smoothly pulled open the front passenger door, climbed in by herself, fastened her seat belt, then turned back and flashed Amelia a proud smile.
Amelia stopped outside the car, a trace of sarcasm curling at her lips.
Ethan saw the scene and frowned slightly, clearly displeased.
He glanced at Isla, already seated comfortably, then at Amelia standing outside with a blank expression. In the end, he chose not to make an issue of it.
“You can sit in the back.”
Amelia opened the back door and bent down to get in.
The car moved steadily onto the road.
On the way from the house to the school, Isla worked hard to act like a cheerful, innocent, lively child.
She pointed at buildings outside the window and asked Ethan what they were in her soft, childish voice.
Then she sang a song she had just learned at school. She was completely off key but full of enthusiasm.
She even vividly described something silly a boy in her class had done, making Ethan laugh quietly once or twice.
The car was filled with her voice and his responses.
Amelia, sitting in the back seat, was completely forgotten.
She observed quietly.
It felt wrong to think badly of a child.
But she couldn’t help noticing that Isla, not even six years old, showed a possessiveness toward Etha seemed no weaker than her mother Hannah’s.
It was clear she truly wanted Ethan to be her father.
The car stopped in front of the grand gates of an elite private school.
Isla unbuckled her seat belt but didn’t get out right away
She turned around, eyes full of hope, and asked Ethan, Mr. Rowe, will you come pick me up after school today?”
The smile on Ethan’s face faded a little. “Not sure. I have a very important meeting this afternoon. But I already talked to my mom. She will come get you on time.”

The hope on Isla’s face instantly collapsed.

She didn’t like Grace. She always looked at her with a critical eye and had once shown clear dislike for her.
Isla pouted, pushed open the door, and walked into the school.
Ethan then drove Amelia to her studio.
“We are here.” His tone was deliberately gentle. “After my meeting tonight, I will stop by and pick you up.”
He seemed to truly believe that small gestures like driving her around could smooth over the discomfort Hannah and Isla had caused her.
That dullness made Amelia want to laugh.
“Do whatever you want.”
She squeezed out those words, opened the door, and stepped out.
Soon, she heard the engine start again behind her.
Amelia let out a silent breath.
She took out her phone and called a car straight to the Solara Zoo.
After getting into the car, she

address.
The city scenery outside the window seemed brighter for no reason.
Her heart filled with a quiet, excited anticipation.
About half an hour later, the taxi stopped in front of the zoo’s playful cartoon style entrance.
Amelia paid and got out. At a glance, she spotted a familiar black Maybach parked by the road nearby.
Mason was leaning casually against the car door.
Hayden stood beside him.
Hayden saw her right away and shouted, “Aunt Amelia!”
Amelia’s lips curved without her noticing, and she walked over quickly.
“Why are you here so early?” she asked, surprised. She checked the time. They were 20 minu planned.
Mason straightened up and pointed lazily at the bouncing Hayden beside him, his voice full of helplessness. “This little guy was so excited last night that he barely slept. He got up before dawn today and insisted on being the first one here.”
