Chapter 157 A Photo and a Quiet Warmth
A photo?
Amelia’s smile stiffened slightly.
She wasn’t used to being in front of a camera.

She looked at Mason out of habit, thinking he would feel the same way and have no interest in something so childish.
With his personality, asking him to pose and smile for a photo was almost impossible.
Sure enough, Mason’s brows knit slightly, his face calm and unreadable.
Amelia finally relaxed.
“Okay.” He agreed, brief and direct.
The staff warmly waved them over. The backdrop was a stretch of green bamboo with several cartoon pandas.
“Alright, kid in the middle, parents on both sides. Stand closer,” the staff said smoothly.
The word “parents” made both Amelia and Mason pause
Amelia felt her cheeks warm and was about to explain.
But Hayden had already happily pulled her into place and called out brightly, “Miss, help us take a good one. Make it look nice.”
Amelia stood there awkwardly, feeling her limbs go stiff
Mason stood on her other side.
She could smell his clean scent, and for some reason, it made her feel calm.
“Smile, Aunt Amelia.” Hayden tugged at her clothes.
Amelia tried to pull up a smile.
Just then, she felt a firm touch at her waist.
A warm hand rested lightly there, guiding her a little closer.
Amelia froze and turned to look at Mason in surprise.
He didn’t look at her. His face stayed cool and unreadable, eyes fixed on the camera, as if the move had been unintentional.
But in his deep gaze, Amelia sensed a quiet reassurance
Click.
The camera shutter went off.

In the photo, the man looked handsome and reserved, the woman gentle and bright, and the child between them smiled wide and happy.
After the shoot, Hayden rushed over to check the photos, swiping excitedly through the screen and picking several favorites.
When the prints came out, he held them up to Mason. “Quick, send these to my dad.”
Mason took out his phone, snapped photos of the warmest shots, and sent them to Evan overseas.
Amelia’s heart lifted for no clear reason.
The feeling was strange, nervous, yet filled with quiet hope.
Soon, Mason’s phone buzzed.
He glanced at the message, then showed the screen to Amelia.
She leaned closer and saw a simple reply from the contact marked “Evan.”
“They look great. As long as Hayden is happy.”
As they continued walking around the zoo, Amelia relaxed more.
The panda house was farther than she had expected. After visiting a few more areas, her lack of exercise caught up with her.
By the hot afternoon, her steps grew unsteady, and a light sheen of sweat formed on her forehead.
Mason noticed right away.
Somehow, he came back with water and handed her a bottle. He then took the souvenir bag from her without asking. “Tired? Want to find a place to rest?” His voice was low.
Amelia shook her head, not wanting to slow them down
By the time they finished the zoo, it was already past three in the afternoon.
Mason drove back to his villa.
Hayden suddenly pointed upstairs. “Aunt Amelia, will that be your room someday? It looks really p
now.”
Amelia’s heart skipped. She looked up without thinking
Hayden pulled her hand and ran upstairs. “Aunt Amelia come see.”
Half dragged along, Amelia followed him.
