The nurse checked the room number, then looked at Ethan and answered seriously, “Ms. Harlow completed her discharge last night and has gone home to recover.”
“She was discharged last night?” Ethan’s pupils shrank suddenly, and his voice rose without control. “Who handled her discharge? Her leg was injured like that–how could she leave the hospital?”
Startled by his sudden agitation, the nurse stepped back half a step and looked at him with caution. “It was her family member, a man named Mr. Everett, who handled it. All procedures were done according to regulations, and the doctor evaluated that resting at home would be better for her recovery.”
Mr. Everett…
Mason!
Mason took her away without telling me anything!
Only then did Ethan realize that the black–clad bodyguards who had been guarding the room and even dared to stop him were now gone as well.
Where did Mason take her?
Why didn’t he inform me first?
Anger from being ignored flared up from the bottom of Ethan’s heart.
I’m Amelia’s husband!
By law and by reason, I should have the right to know first and make the decision!
How could Mason do this?
Thinking of this, Ethan nearly clenched his teeth. He pulled out his phone, found Mason’s number, and dialed it.
The phone rang for a long time before it was answered. The background was quiet, making Mason’s voice sound even colder and more distant.
“Hello.”
“Mason…” Ethan asked, suppressing his anger, “where did you take Amelia?”
Mason didn’t seem surprised by the call.

“She needs a quiet place to recover.”
“She’s my wife! Where she recovers should be my decision!” Ethan lost control of his emotions. “Tell me the address right now. I’m going to pick her up!”
In response, a faint, almost mocking chuckle came through the phone.
Then Mason’s cold, emotionless voice sounded clearly. “Ethan, Amelia doesn’t want to see any of you while she’s recovering. You’d better not bother her.”
“You…”
Ethan was about to say more, but the line went dead.
Mason had hung up.
The veins on the back of Ethan’s hand bulged as he gripped his phone.
Everything he once took pride in seemed weak and useless in front of Mason.
Mason said Amelia didn’t want to see him, but Ethan refused to believe it.
After forcing himself to calm down, Ethan called Amelia.
At the same time, Amelia was sitting in a wheelchair at the estate, being slowly pushed through the back garden by a staff member named Tania Brightman.
The garden was huge and maintained like a classic oil painting.
On both sides of the winding stone path were rows of roses, beautiful and vibrant.
Not far away, a fountain murmured, birds hopped across the lawn, and everything around felt lively and full of life.
The peaceful and beautiful scenery eased the heavy feelings that had been building up in Amelia’s heart for days.
Color slowly returned to her pale face.
She had slept more soundly than she had in a long time the night before.
She had to admit that Mason’s arrangement was far better than staying in that depressing hospital where she could be disturbed at any moment.
Just then, her phone suddenly vibrated.
