She forced a look of mild regret onto her face and let out a soft sigh, but deep inside, a quiet sense of relief slowly wrapped around her.

There were no traces of Ms. Jewell ever being here.

That made her feel less guilty about accepting everything Mason had carefully arranged.

After both Mason and Amelia refused to take his calls, Ethan returned to his

company in anger. But he couldn’t focus on any work at all. His mind was filled with the thought that Amelia had been hidden away by Mason.

He couldn’t even be sure whether Amelia had gone willingly or had been forced by Mason.

Just as he was anxiously preparing to use his connections to search through all of Mason’s properties, his internal phone rang and informed him to attend a project meeting.

Ethan took a deep breath, straightened his slightly messy tie, and forced down the turbulent emotions in his chest.

Mason was also at this meeting, but he joined by video.

“There are some issues with the early survey of this project. The local construction environment is more complicated than expected,” Mason said in a cold, emotionless voice. “I need someone who understands the project well to personally go to the site and supervise the work to make sure nothing goes wrong.”

The task immediately fell to Ethan.

Ethan felt a wave of disappointment.

It was obvious that Mason was exiling him.

Mason was using this project–one the Rowe Group could not refuse–to send Ethan away from the city, making sure he couldn’t go find Amelia right away.

Ethan understood Mason’s intention, but he had no reason to refuse.

This project was tied to the future of the Rowe Group, and as the person in charge, he couldn’t escape the responsibility.

“How long do I have to go for?” Ethan asked painfully.

“That depends on your ability,” Mason replied lazily yet firmly. “Solve the problems fast, and you’ll be back fast.”

What Mason really meant was that if Ethan tried anything tricky, the project could stall there

forever.

That afternoon, Ethan boarded a flight for a business trip thousands of miles away.

After Ethan left, the atmosphere in the Rowe Villa changed.

Hannah began to sit openly in the seat that once belonged to Amelia at meals and ordered the staff around with arrogance, as if she were the new lady of the Rowe family.

Hype in the design world always needed work to back it up.

Hannah’s own designs were low quality, so she set her sights on the old drafts Amelia had left behind.

She picked out several of the most outstanding designs that hadn’t been published yet, made a few clumsy changes, erased Amelia’s unique style, and shamelessly put her own name on them.

To make her résumé look better, she even made up foreign awards that never existed.

She thought that Amelia had a broken leg and was hidden away somewhere by Mason to recover, so Amelia wouldn’t have the time or energy to care about these things.

By the time she comes back, I’ll already be famous. Who would believe the words of a washed–up designer then?
