No Sex for Six Years Because of Her? I'm Done novel Chapter 235

Chapter 235 Lines That Can No Longer Be Ignored

I have never seen him care this much,Zach said.

Amelia lowered her eyes, flustered.

She forced a light laugh. Mr. Preston, you’re really overthinking it. He’s my brother. We’re not related by blood, but we’ve known each other for many years.

My leg is injured, so he’s taking extra care of me and bringing me to see a doctor. That’snormal.

She said the word normal quickly and softly.

As if saying it fast enough could press down the wild feelings rising in her chest.

But Zach only looked at her steadily. Wisdom flashed in his weathered eyes.

He asked gently, Is it really normal?

Amelia’s smile froze.

Zach continued in a calm but firm voice. Girl, you can fool an old man like me. You can fool everyone else. But you can’t fool your own heart.

You call him brother, but does what he does look like how a brother treats his sister?

Amelia sat stiffly on the couch.

Her mind turned into a runaway projector, replaying scene after scene with Mason.

They called each other foster siblings.

But Mason had hugged her, kissed her, and even slept in the same bed as her.

And she cared deeply about his opinion. She hated hearing anyone speak badly of him.

Were these things siblings did?

No.

Somewhere along the way, the line between them had already blurred.

Yet because of Phoebe, she had kept lying to herself.

Like an ostrich, she buried her head in the sand called siblings.

She thought that as long as she didn’t look, didn’t think, and didn’t admit it, those crossed feelings didn’t exist. Then everything could return to a safe place.

But no matter who Mason truly liked, her heart could no longer go back to its original purity.

This realization came late and filled Amelia with panic.

Seeing her struggle, Zach did not press further.

He simply let out a long sigh.

Finished

You young people think too much and fear too much,he said, stroking his beard and shaking his head. If you had even half the courage and decisiveness I had when I chased my wife, your kids would already be running errands for you.”

Amelia snapped back to herself.

She lifted her eyes and saw her reflection in the brass mirror with a carved frame in the hall.

The woman in the mirror still looked pale, but her cheeks were flushed no matter what.

Was it really that obvious?

Then what about Mason?

Dinner felt strange.

Zach and Kaia stayed warm and kind, constantly putting food on Amelia’s and Mason’s plates.

Mason, however, was unusually quiet. He ate in silence, only occasionally picking vegetables Amelia liked and placing them on her plate. His movements were so natural, as if he had done it countless times.

Amelia kept her head down the whole time. She barely dared to meet anyone’s eyes.

She could feel the kind but teasing looks from Zach and Kaia. She could also feel the deep gaze of the man beside her.

After dinner, the heavy rain outside showed no sign of stopping. It only grew stronger.

The village broadcast began repeating warnings. The TV news reported that water levels in nearby towns had passed the alert line.

Kaia took several calls. Her expression turned serious as she said people were reinforcing the riverbank with sandbags, worried about flooding at night.

Hearing this, Amelia felt both fear and relief.

Thankfully, they had turned back.

If their car had been stuck halfway, with rain this heavy, landslides in the mountains could have happened at any time.

Under Kaia’s arrangement, Amelia went to shower first.

The rising steam in the bathroom briefly cleared the mess in her mind.

Afterward, Kaia personally led Amelia to the guest room.

Ms. Harlow, you’ll have to make do with Mr. Everett tonight,Kaia said apologetically as she opened the

door.

The room was clean and tidy, carrying the fresh scent of sundried bedding.

But when Amelia’s eyes landed in the center of the room, her heart sank.

There was a standard double bed, neatly made.

Other than that, there was only a desk and a wardrobe. No couch. No spare chair to sleep on.

Amelia felt troubled.

But she was already imposing by staying the night. She really couldn’t ask for more.

It’s fine. You have already helped me so much,Amelia said with a strained smile.

Kaia saw her discomfort. She gently patted Amelia’s hand but didn’t point it out.
