No Sex for Six Years Because of Her? I’m Done!
Chapter 236 The Answer He Didn’t Say

Kaia asked Amelia to sit on the edge of the bed. She took out her needle kit and gave her another treatment to improve circulation and reduce swelling.
When she finished, Kaia packed away the needles and said, “All done. Your ankle was badly twisted. Even though the medicated wine helped with the bruising, the tendons are still injured. Be careful while you sleep tonight and try not to press on it.”
“Okay. Thank you so much, Ms. Preston,” Amelia said sincerely.
“No problem.” Kaia smiled and turned to leave.
The room fell quiet, with only Amelia left inside.
She sat on the edge of the bed, feeling awkward, listening to the wind and rain outside. Her thoughts were a tangled mess.
Not long after, the door opened softly.
Amelia’s heart jumped. She looked up and saw Mason.
His hair was still a little wet, a few dark strands falling across his forehead.
He stepped inside and closed the door behind him.
Amelia sat stiffly on the bed, not knowing where to put her hands or feet. Every part of her felt tense.
Mason didn’t speak right away. He walked to the bed, crouched down, and looked closely at her bandaged
ankle.
His gaze was focused and serious.
“How does it feel?” he asked. His low voice sounded especially clear in the quiet room.
Amelia instinctively wanted to pull her foot back, but she stopped herself.
She could feel his warm breath brushing lightly across the top of her foot, sending a faint, ticklish warmth through her skin.
“It feels… better.
“It just… still feels weak.”
Silence followed.
Amelia felt she had to say something before the mood grew even more awkward.
She gathered her courage and looked at him, embarrassed.
“Well… there’s no couch here. Tonight…”
Before she could finish, Mason interrupted her calmly.

He slowly lifted his head. Under the light, his deep eyes looked like dark pools, holding her in place.
“Does it bother you?” he asked.
Amelia bit her lower lip. Her mind was in chaos. She had no idea how to answer.
In a rush, she tossed the question back at him.
“What about you? Does it bother you?”
The moment the words left her mouth, she regretted them.
The air froze.
Mason went silent.
He stayed crouched there, looking up at her without saying a word. His eyes were hard to read.
Then he moved.
He stood up slowly and walked toward the door without a word.
He left the room.
The door closed in front of Amelia.

The soft click sounded loud in the room, which now held only the sound of rain. It struck her heart like a bolt of lightning.
Her heart sank.
Was Mason angry?
Did he think she was ungrateful, treating his concern as an insult?
Or did her question cross a line he didn’t want touched?
Or maybe… he also cared, and couldn’t bear even a moment more together, choosing this blunt way to draw a line?
Amelia hugged her arms tightly around herself.
She regretted asking that question.
She had only been unsure how to answer and wanted to see his reaction.
She never expected it to hurt this much.
She lowered her eyes to her aching ankle. Her nose stung.
Would he come back?
Just as regret threatened to drown her, the door handle turned softly.

The door opened again.
Against the dim hallway light, Mason’s tall figure appeared in the doorway.
He stepped inside carrying a wooden basin.
The basin was filled with hot water. Steam rose in white curls, blurring his refined features.
Amelia froze.
Mason closed the door, walked to the bed, and set the basin down carefully.
He took a clean towel, soaked it in the hot water, wrung it out, and gently wrapped it around Amelia’s injured ankle.

The warmth spread through the bandages, easing the swelling and pain at once. The heat flowed upward, calming the chill in her heart.
Only then did he look up and explain calmly, “Zach said using a warm towel before bed helps blood flow. It should hurt less at night so you can sleep better.”
Amelia lowered her head and looked at the man crouched at her feet, carefully adjusting the towel.
Soft light traced the sharp lines of his profile, giving him a tenderness that made her chest tighten.
So when he left without a word, it was not anger or avoidance. He had gone to get hot water for her.
Her vision slowly blurred.
“Mason…”
