Chapter 270 The Mystery Bidder
Tim raised his paddle again and jumped the price way up. “One million!”
The whole room gasped.
Everyone started looking back and forth between Ethan’s table and Amelia’s table.

It was obvious now–this wasn’t just an auction anymore. It was a silent showdown between a new love and an old one.
“One point five million!” Ethan shot back without backing down, his face dark.
He was completely blinded by rage.
The price kept climbing as they went back and forth. They were about to turn a pair of 80,000- dollar earrings into something worth a fortune.
Hannah sat next to Ethan, so nervous she almost forgot to breathe.
Her palms were sweaty, and her heart was racing.
These earrings were nothing compared to the necklace Amelia was wearing, but the meaning was different!
If she could openly snatch something Amelia wanted, she’d be incredibly happy!
Just as Tim was about to bid again, Ethan seemed to lose all patience. He raised his paddle and shouted a number that made the whole room go silent. “Five million!”
Five million for a pair of earrings worth far less than that?
People wondered if he had lost his mind or if he was just trying to show the world how much he spoiled Hannah.
Amelia was so shocked by the number that she actually grabbed Tim’s arm to stop him from bidding again.
She shook her head, half–laughing and half–helpless. “Let’s stop. If I spent five million on these, I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night. I’d feel like the world’s biggest sucker.
Before Tim could say anything, she took the paddle from his hand, held it up, and waved it at the host to show she was done.
Then, she said loud and clear, “We’re not bidding anymore. Congrats, Mr. Rowe.”

At that, Ethan and Hannah both looked super smug.
So Stardale Group wasn’t that generous to her after all.
They thought the new boss would spoil her, but once the price passed five million, they couldn’t keep up.
The anger in Ethan’s chest finally eased.

He had spent five million to buy back his ridiculous pride and to embarrass Amelia in public.
The host snapped out of his shock, lifted the gavel, and called out excitedly, “Five million! Anyone else? Five million going once! Five million going twice…”
Just as he raised the gavel high, about to bring it down-
“Ten million.”
A man’s voice called out from the private VIP section on the second floor.
The host froze with the gavel in mid–air.
Amelia looked up in surprise, following the sound toward the dark second floor.
She didn’t recognize the voice at all.
She figured it was just some big spender who decided they wanted the earrings on a whim.
In a place like this, anything could happen.
She looked away and picked up her lemonade again, totally chill, like this whole mess had nothing to do with her.
But the calm at Amelia’s table only made things more awkward on Ethan’s side.
If Tim bidding one million was a provocation, and Ethan bidding five million was an insult, then this random ten–million–dollar bid was like a massive, invisible slap to Ethan’s face in front of everyone.
“Ten million! Ten million from a VIP on the second floor!” the host shouted, his voice shaking with excitement. “Mr. Rowe, are you still bidding?”
All
eyes turned to Ethan again.
Ethan swallowed hard.
Keep bidding? How?

Chapter 270 The Mystery Bidder
Finished
Spending over ten million on a pair of earrings that weren’t even worth one million–against a mystery opponent he couldn’t even see?
That wouldn’t be cool; it would just be stupid.
In the end, reason won over anger.
Ethan took a deep breath and shook his head at the host, signaling he was done.
His plan was to snatch what Amelia wanted just to embarrass her.
Now that an even richer buyer had jumped in, he might as well let it go.
Ethan turned to Hannah and said in a soothing tone, “It’s just a pair of earrings. Not worth it. If you like this style, I’ll have Boli’s director send you a full set of their newest collection tomorrow.”
He tried to sound sweet, but you could hear the annoyance in his voice.
Hannah knew Boli’s jewelry was far more expensive than these earrings.
But that wasn’t the point.
What she wanted wasn’t the jewelry; she wanted to win the fight against Amelia in front of everyone.
Now that someone else had taken that win, she felt disappointed, but she didn’t dare show it on her face.
