A red Porsche pulled up at the entrance of the estate. Lily, wearing sunglasses, rolled down the window and let out an exaggerated whistle when she saw the grand, standalone mansion.

“Well damn, girl! Not bad at all,” she said as she took off her sunglasses and winked at Amelia, who was walking over quickly. “It’s only been a few days and you’re already living in a palace. Looks like Mr. Everett really has you at the top of his priority list.”

Lily had been on business trips out of town before and this was her first time seeing Mason’s private estate. The surprise and teasing in her eyes were completely undisguised.

“Cut it out,” Amelia said, her face burning as she opened the door and climbed into the car. “Let’s go. We need to get to the courthouse.”

“Tsk, tsk.” Lily said as she started the car and turned the steering wheel, still teasing her. “Ms. Harlow, I remember very clearly that when you picked up your marriage certificate back then, you weren’t nearly this anxious.”

“That’s different,” Amelia shot back, lifting her chin with rare confidence. “Times have changed. If you told me I could get rid of Ethan one day earlier, I’d be even more impatient.”

Lily burst out laughing. “If it were me, I wouldn’t have slept at home last night. I’d have grabbed a blanket and camped outside the courthouse, just waiting for the doors to open so I could be the first one inside.”

After laughing, Lily shot her a playful, suggestive look and lowered her voice. “Seriously though, looks like Mr. Everett took really good care of you while you were injured. Your face is glowing. You practically look like you’re about to drip with happiness.”

The moment Mason was mentioned, Amelia’s confidence immediately faltered.

Unwilling to lose ground, she quickly countered, “Right back at you. Mr. Clem asked me about you several times a few days ago, wondering when you’d be back from your trip. Looks like he’s pretty into you too.”

Sure enough, the moment Tim’s name came up, Lily’s bold attitude shrank noticeably. An awkward look flashed across her face.

“Ahem, don’t bring him up,” she said with a dry laugh. “I already made it clear to him. We’re just sleeping together, nothing more. No one’s thinking about getting serious. Plus, we were around each other too much. A little distance is good.”
