“Mason, why are you here?” She stopped in front of him, looked up, and her expression was noticeably relaxed.

“I saw the live stream of the press conference,” Mason said slowly, his voice low and gentle. “You…”

He paused, as if carefully choosing his words.

Seeing him hesitate, Amelia thought he was blaming her for acting too impulsively.

She lowered her head slightly, feeling embarrassed, and explained softly, “I’m sorry, I was furious at them at the time, so I didn’t think everything through. If you feel like the explanation about you

Mason ignored her and only held her tighter.

“Didn’t you just say you’re a single woman now?”

“So what’s inappropriate about this?” His voice was soft, teasing, with a hint of a smile.

Amelia’s cheeks burned even hotter.

But just as his words fell, an angry, violent shout suddenly erupted behind them. “What are you two doing?!”

Amelia was startled.

Instinctively, she tried to pull free from Mason’s arms.

Six years of ingrained fear made her want to retreat and hide whenever she faced Ethan’s anger.

However, before she could move, Mason’s large hand gently rested on the top of her head and patted it soothingly.

“Don’t be afraid.”
