Chapter 356 Lights On
Finis!
Mason stayed buried in the hollow of her neck for a little longer, as if drawing strength from
the moment.
After a while, he released one hand and reached for the wall. Relying on his memory, Mason found the light switch.
Click.
Soft, warm yellow light poured into the room. It filled every corner and revealed them both clearly.
Amelia squinted at first. When her eyes adjusted, she looked at him.
The traces of desire were still clear on his face. Mason’s eyes were bright under the light, almo too bright.
Her heart skipped again.
Mason finally let her go, clearly reluctant.
The sudden loss of support made her knees go weak. She almost stumbled, but he caught her arm in time.
“Sit first,” he said, his voice still rough.
Then he turned and walked to the floor–to–ceiling window. With one pull, he drew back the thick curtains.
Amelia looked up without thinking, and went speechless at the sight unfolding before her.
The room was warm. The snow stuck to the glass was slowly melting away. Thin streams of water slid down the window.
Behind those fading marks, the night sky appeared. It was wide, clear, and endless.
She went to the bathroom to take off her heavy coat and change into loose, comfortable cotton pajamas.
When she came out, she stopped in surprise. Mason was calmly making coffee for her.
He had rolled up his shirt sleeves, showing strong forearms, and was focused on a sleek capsule coffee machine. It looked expensive.
Steam rose around him, softening his sharp features. For once, he looked gentle and at home.

Amelia walked to the window and said honestly, “Mason, the view from this room is wonderful.
He handed her a cup of hot coffee. His eyes rested on her amazed expression. “If you like it,” he said evenly, “stay a few more days.”
She held the warm cup and laughed softly, shaking her head. “I can’t stay here forever. I still have to go back.”
She meant it casually. Mason paused, thought about it seriously, then turned to her. “Then I’ll get you a place like this,” he said.
His tone was steady and serious. He truly meant it.
Her heart jumped hard.
Mason always said the most touching things in the calmest way.
She lowered her head and took a sip of coffee to hide her smile.
The temperature was just right. It tasted rich and creamy, with the sweetness she liked.
Just then, a phone ringtone rang out, sharp and out of place, breaking the quiet warmth of the
room.
Amelia took her phone from her coat pocket. An unfamiliar number from Eldoria filled the
screen.
She hesitated for a second, then answered the call.
The call connected. Before Amelia could say a word, a rough, urgent male voice came through the line.
“Amelia, is that you?”
It was Ethan.
The smile on Amelia’s face froze.
“Are
you doing okay? I–I really miss you.” He sounded drunk. Every word was soaked in alcohol and exposed his weakness.
Amelia felt nothing but disgust.
“We’re divorced,” she said coldly. “Whether I’m doing well or not has nothing to do with you.
“Ethan, I’m warning you. Stop bothering me.”

The irritation in her voice was impossible to miss. Mason, standing not far away, noticed it at
once.
He looked over. Mason didn’t say anything, but the slight frown on his face said enough.
When he saw the open dislike on Amelia’s face, he immediately guessed who was on the other end of the call.
Mason’s eyes darkened.
Then a wicked idea crossed his mind.
He took a few long steps toward her, bent down, and spoke close to her ear, so close it looked natural and intimate, like something only lovers would do. “Amelia,” he said softly, “I’ve set the water temperature. I’ll go take a shower first.”
Amelia was caught off guard. She paused, then answered without thin
Okay.”
“Amelia!” Ethan’s voice exploded through the phone. The drunken haze seemed to vanish at once. “Who are you with right now?! Who was that man just now?!”
Only then did Amelia fully understand Mason’s prank. She glanced at Mason beside her. He looked relaxed, almost amused, the corner of his mouth lifting slightly.
She decided to play along. “My boyfriend,” she said calmly. “Is that a problem?”
“It is a problem!” Ethan completely lost control, shouting into the phone. “I never agreed to the divorce! You being with another man means you’re cheating!”
Amelia froze for a moment, then found it ridiculous.
Did he really think this could trap her?
“Haha.” She let out a cold laugh. “Think whatever you want. The one who looks foolish right now isn’t me.”

After that, she didn’t want to near anʊuiti

The world finally went quiet.
Just then, the sound of running water came from the bathroom.

Amelia let out a long breath and was about to sit down when the bathroom door opened a crack.
Mason leaned out and called her name.
“Amelia.”
“Yeah?”
His voice sounded sexy through the steam. “Can you get me a T–shirt from my
suitcase?”
Amelia’s cheeks warmed, but she still answered without thinking.
“Okay.”
After she agreed, her face felt even hotter, as if the steam from the bathroom had reached her.
She took a deep breath and walked to the black hard–shell suitcase by the wall.
It was Mason’s suitcase. Simple lines. Quiet style. Just like him.
She crouched down, unlocked it, and popped the lid open.
Amelia froze for a moment.
Everything inside was incredibly neat.
T–shirts, button–down shirts, and casual pants were sorted by type, folded into perfect squares, and stacked in clean rows.
Even the socks were rolled into pairs and tucked neatly into a small pouch in the corner.
She carefully pulled out a black cotton T–shirt.
Amelia was about to close the suitcase. Something small slipped out with the shirt and landed softly on a dark shirt beside it.
