No Sex for Six Years Because of Her? I'm Done novel Chapter 36

**TITLE: My Heart Waited Too Long and Choosing Freedom 36**
**CONTENT: Chapter 36 Office Gossip**

As the clock struck 11:58 p.m., Lily’s fingers danced over her phone screen, sending a text that crackled with excitement and concern: “Girl! Where did that hot guy take you? Did he do anything to you? Text me when you get home safe!!” The anticipation hung in the air like a thick fog, her heart racing with curiosity about her best friend’s night.

Time dragged on, and at 01:30 a.m., Lily’s impatience bubbled over once more. She shot off another message, her playful tone tinged with urgency: “Wtf, where are you? Don’t tell me you slept with him. He looked so proper; he shouldn’t be bad at that.” The words seemed to echo in the silence of the night, her mind racing with wild scenarios.

Finally, as the early morning hours crept in, at 04:15 a.m., Lily’s frustration morphed into a teasing accusation with a hint of betrayal: “Amelia, you traitor. Why haven’t you texted me back yet? Don’t tell me you spent the whole night with that guy. I never knew you had it in you, girl. Is he that good?”

Amelia, still trapped in a haze of confusion, felt her eyelid twitch as a flurry of fragmented memories invaded her mind. A tall figure, a solid chest, and strong arms lifting her effortlessly—these sensations were vivid yet elusive. The lingering scent of cologne wrapped around her like a warm blanket, but the details of his face remained frustratingly out of reach.

In that moment, she realized how unexpected it was that her one night of letting loose, fueled by alcohol, had spiraled into something so unpredictable. A wave of heat rushed to her cheeks, and she hastily dialed Lily’s number, her heart pounding with both anxiety and anticipation.

The call connected almost instantly, and Lily’s voice burst through the line, vibrant and loud. “Girl! You’re alive! What happened last night?!”

“Lily…” Amelia’s voice emerged as a raspy whisper, still recovering from the hangover that clung to her like a shadow. “What happened last night?”

“Huh?” Lily’s shock was palpable, her disbelief evident. “You don’t remember anything? Oh my God, how much did you drink?!”

Amelia felt a knot form in her stomach, the weight of uncertainty pressing down on her. “At the bar last night, you got drunk and clung to this unbelievably handsome guy like an octopus. You were begging him to take you away. I couldn’t stop you!” Lily’s words tumbled out in a rush, her excitement bubbling over.

In an instant, Lily shifted gears, her tone transforming into that of an eager gossip. “But don’t worry, I checked him out for you. He’s definitely someone new, not one of those awful guys from our circles. He was so hot—super fit, broad shoulders, slim waist, long legs—and he had that cold, distant vibe… the kind you’d feel lucky just to sleep with!”

Amelia’s heart raced at the vivid description, but she quickly cut in, her voice rising in protest. “Stop! You’re imagining things! Nothing happened. He dropped me off at my studio, and he was already gone when I woke up.”

Lily’s excitement deflated in an instant, replaced by a melodramatic sigh. “Amelia! Why do you love work so much, girl? When other people have a fling, they go to a hotel or someone’s house to hook up. You brought him to your studio? Did you want to pull an all-nighter drawing with him?”

As she walked through the office, she noticed the stares directed her way were a mix of curiosity and judgment, leaving her feeling exposed and vulnerable.

Then, Ava—someone she rarely interacted with and only exchanged polite nods—approached her with a coffee cup in hand and an overly friendly smile plastered on her face. “Amelia, you’re here? Did you sleep well last night? You don’t look so good. Are you tired?”

Ava’s gaze lingered on Amelia, her words laced with an insincere concern that made Amelia uncomfortable. “By the way, how are the revisions for the Stellar Attire Project coming along? Don’t fall behind schedule.”

Feeling a wave of irritation rise within her, Amelia replied coolly, “It’s fine. On schedule.” She then turned away, eager to escape the conversation and head straight to her desk.

Out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of Ava’s pouting expression as she sauntered over to the printer in the far corner of the office. There, Ava leaned in to whisper with another coworker, their heads bent together as they pointed discreetly in Amelia’s direction.

A seed of doubt began to sprout in Amelia’s mind, and when she rose to grab a glass of water from the break room, that doubt blossomed into a full-blown concern. She needed answers.
