No Sex for Six Years Because of Her? I'm Done novel Chapter 37

**TITLE: My Heart Waited Too Long and Choosing Freedom 37**
**CONTENT: Chapter 37 Facing the Rumors**

The pantry door hung slightly ajar, and Amelia could hear the hushed voices of two female colleagues who were clearly unaware of how easily their whispers carried. Their attempts at discretion were futile, and every word floated to her ears with alarming clarity.

“Can you believe it? She actually got into Mr. Rowe’s car? That takes some serious guts!” one of them exclaimed, her tone a mix of shock and intrigue.

“Someone witnessed it firsthand! Right in the underground parking lot. But honestly, it doesn’t quite add up,” the other woman replied, skepticism lacing her voice. “Ms. Harlow has been around for a while now. What would make her suddenly interested in Mr. Rowe? We’ve never even seen his so-called wife, and everyone knows he’s been married for years.”

The first woman huffed in annoyance, eager to defend her gossip. “You can’t judge a book by its cover, you know.”

“If Mr. Rowe had kept his nose clean and avoided all these rumors, maybe people would back off,” she continued, her voice almost conspiratorial.

“But look at him now! He’s practically inseparable from that childhood sweetheart of his, and he doesn’t even flinch at the fact that she has a kid. What does that say?”

The second woman leaned in, her eyes sparkling with mischief. “It suggests his marriage is crumbling. If things are that bad with his wife, it opens the door for others, doesn’t it? I bet Amelia thinks she’s young and attractive, far better than Mr. Rowe’s widowed childhood sweetheart, and she’s ready to swoop in!”

Amelia felt a cold wave wash over her. So, this was how the story had evolved. Someone had indeed seen her leave with Ethan the previous day, and now, after a night of rampant gossip, she was being painted as a gold-digger, desperate to climb the social ladder.

She could endure Ethan’s chilly demeanor, but she refused to be the target of baseless rumors. Enough was enough. It was time to confront this nonsense and reclaim her narrative.

Taking a deep breath, Amelia pushed the pantry door open wider, stepping into the small space with purpose.

The moment she entered, the two women froze, their expressions morphing from surprise to sheer embarrassment. One of them was so startled that she spilled water from her cup, the liquid splashing onto the counter.

Amelia feigned ignorance to their dramatic reactions, striding confidently to the water dispenser. She filled a cup slowly, relishing the tension in the air.

Turning to face them, she leaned casually against the counter, her demeanor calm and collected.

“Excuse me, but I couldn’t help but overhear your little conversation about me,” she said, her voice steady.

Their faces turned crimson, and they stumbled over their words, unable to respond.

“There’s really no need to be so flustered,” Amelia remarked, gently blowing on the steaming water in her cup, a playful smile dancing on her lips. “Regarding my ride with Mr. Rowe yesterday, let me clarify things to prevent any misconceptions or damage to his reputation.”

“I was at Stellar Attire’s office to discuss some design details. Coincidentally, Mr. Rowe was heading there as well, and he kindly offered me a lift. That’s the whole story.”
