Chapter 363 Old Fear, New Doubt
Later events proved that Lily’s guesses had both been right.

Ethan had never let go of the woman in his heart. And when it came to Amelia, he truly hadn’t been able to give her what she needed.
Now, hearing the same words from Lily again, Amelia’s self–doubt grew even stronger.
She looked at the worry in Lily’s eyes. Her lips parted again and again, but no words came out.
Was her luck really that bad?
She had barely climbed out of one dark pit. Was she about to fall into another trap that looked almost the same?
Would Mason end up like Ethan?
Amelia was close to tears. Lily’s heart dropped. She cursed herself for speaking too fast.
She quickly wiped the teasing look off her face. She grabbed Amelia’s cold hand, and her voice softened right away.
“Hey, don’t think like that,” Lily said quickly. “I was just guessing. Total guesswork.” She squeezed Amelia’s hand harder, trying to warm it. “Calm down and think about it. Do Mason and Ethan really seem like the same kind of man?
“Look at Mason. His height. His build. The way he walks into a room. Do you see anything about him that says something’s wrong?” Lily went on. “That man gives off pure energy. Pure confidence. He’s overflowing with it. He’s nothing like Ethan.”
Lily’s words were rough, but somehow they worked.
Amelia couldn’t stop herself from picturing Mason.
He really was nothing like Ethan.
“Maybe…” Amelia said slowly. “Maybe I really am overthinking this.”
“You are overthinking it,” Lily said firmly, pressing the point. “Think about it. You were apart for years. You finally found your way back to each other. You’ve only just started dating. A man like him? He clearly has strong instincts and strong self–control. Maybe he just thinks the timing isn’t right yet. Maybe he doesn’t want to scare you. So he’s holding himself back.”
Coming from Lily–who always spoke like an expert–that explanation sounded strangely convincing.

Amelia’s racing thoughts finally began to settle.
“But…” she said, still uneasy. “What if he really is like that? If I just sit here and wait, won’t I keep driving myself crazy?”
“Exactly!” Lily said, looking proud. “That’s why you can’t stay passive. You need to take control.”
Her eyes lit up at once. She leaned in close to Amelia’s ear, suddenly bold.
“So,” she whispered, “I suggest tonight you stop overthinking it and take the lead. Go test him yourself. Then you’ll know everything.”
“Huh?” Amelia froze. Her very limited experience couldn’t keep up with Lily’s wild train of thought. “Take the lead? Test him how?”
“Oh, my poor Amelia,” Lily said softly. “You’ve already been married once, so why are you still acting like a scared little bunny?” She lowered her voice even more and spoke quickly, almost breathing the words out. “You know how to kiss and hug, right? When he’s lying on the bed, you know how to sit on his lap, right? You know how to touch him, right? Start with his abs, then move lower… You know how.”
Lily said all this with a straight face. Amelia, on the other hand, felt her face turn as red as fire. She felt like her whole body was overheating.
“T–that… that doesn’t seem right.”
“What’s wrong with it?” Lily said firmly. “You’re a couple. This is normal flirting!” She went all in now. “If it really comes down to it, when you get back to the hotel, secretly borrow my phone and watch a couple of short videos. Learn how other people do it. Remember, your goal isn’t to actually do anything. It’s just to test him.”
She started counting on her fingers, laying out the plan clearly. “You tease him like that. If he reacts, doesn’t that prove his body works just fine, and he’s only been holding back like a gentleman? Then you find an excuse,” she continued. “Say your period started or that you’re not ready yet, and stop right away. That way, you get your answer and still keep control.”
“T–then what if…” Amelia swallowed hard and asked the question she was most afraid of. “What if he still doesn’t react at all?”
Lily’s expression turned serious. She patted Amelia on the shoulder, her tone sharp and decisive. “If you do all that and he still shows no reaction, then stop doubting yourself. At that point, it’s pretty clear he’s the one with a problem. Once you know the answer, you can cut your losses early. Worst case, you treat this trip as a short fling. Have your fun, then say goodbye. That’s way better than falling too deep and finding out later it’s another trap, right?”
Amelia took a deep breath, like someone cutting off an arm to survive.

She looked at Lily and nodded hard. “Okay.”
One word. Firm and final.
From that moment on, a heavy mission settled deep in Amelia’s heart.
She kept replaying Lily’s instructions in her head over and over. One moment, she felt so embarrassed that she wanted to disappear. Next, she forced herself to be brave.
By noon, Mason and Tim finished their affairs. The four of them met up again and had a simple lunch together.
