No Sex for Six Years Because of Her? I'm Done novel Chapter 38

**Chapter 38: New Gossip**

Ethan’s ego, a formidable beast, twisted Amelia’s words into an entirely different narrative, one that served only to fuel his own arrogance.

*Is she really upset that I didn’t come searching for her?*

That thought flickered through his mind, and with it, a flicker of his anger dimmed slightly, though it still simmered beneath the surface.

He raised an eyebrow, a smirk playing at the corners of his mouth, his voice dripping with condescension. “Amelia, I understand perfectly.” He spoke deliberately, savoring each word. “You orchestrated all this chaos—staying out late, having a man answer your phone—because deep down, you’re jealous and want me to care more about you, right?”

His gaze bore into hers, as if he could read her thoughts like an open book. “So, you even enlisted someone to help you put on this little performance?”

Amelia stood there, momentarily stunned by the absurdity of his reasoning. She blinked at him, disbelief etched across her features.

“You genuinely think… that I would go through the trouble of staging a scene just to deceive you?”

“What else could it be?” Ethan stepped forward, his imposing figure casting a shadow over her. The proximity felt suffocating, and he continued with a tone that was both mocking and hurtful. “Amelia, tell me, where do you think you’ll find a guy who’s better than me?”

A wave of nausea rolled through Amelia’s stomach, and she instinctively recoiled, creating a significant distance between them. “Don’t flatter yourself, Ethan. If you’re so certain that I’d never look for someone else, then remember this: even if you witness it with your own eyes one day, don’t come storming at me again.”

“Are you actually threatening me?” The atmosphere around Ethan shifted, the tension becoming almost palpable, a dark cloud hanging heavily in the air.

Amelia opened her mouth to respond, but just then, a knock echoed through the office door.

Ethan’s assistant spoke from the other side, his tone respectful yet firm, “Mr. Rowe, Ms. Gray has arrived.”

The brief interlude only heightened the tension, the air thick with unspoken words.

Amelia couldn’t help but sneer, her eyes narrowing as she scrutinized his rigid expression. “And you think you have the authority to question me? Look at yourself… Are you even clean?”

No sooner had she uttered those words than the office door swung open.

Hannah entered, a stylish thermos in hand, her face illuminated by a bright smile.

“Ethan, I brought you some soup. Make sure you eat it while it’s still hot. I need to dash off to pick up Isla from school.”

She placed the thermos on the coffee table with a casual confidence, as if she owned the space. Then, as if she had just noticed Amelia’s presence, she feigned surprise, her voice dripping with sweetness. “Oh, Ms. Harlow, you’re here too! I’m sorry, but I only made enough soup for one person.”
