The moment Amelia threw the net, a strong force yanked it back. Her little bit of strength couldn’t compete at all..

In the blink of an eye, she lost her footing and pitched forward, on the verge of a complete disasterno fish caught, straight into the river.

Ah!Amelia yelped.

At that crucial moment, a firm hand reached from behind and grabbed her shoulder, stopping her instantly.

Right after, a solid, warm chest pressed against her back.

Amelia managed to stay on her feet, but the net told another story. With her weak power and bad timing. it flew out crookedly. Only half of it hit the water, splashing up a huge wave.

The splash was even louder than throwing a big rock into the water.

The fish scattered instantly and disappeared.

By the time Amelia snapped back to reality, she and Mason dragged the net back in together.

As expected, it was empty. Not even a shrimp. The only things caught were some tangled weeds and two smooth stones.

Hahaha

Someone started laughing, and soon the riverbank filled with muffled giggles.

Amelia’s face burned red.

That was painfully embarrassing.

She bit her lip, wriggled out of Mason’s hold, and grabbed the net back. Puffing out her cheeks, she said stubbornly, Again! That one didn’t count!

This time, she put more strength into it.

The result was only a little better. The net landed fully in the water, but her technique was still off, so it didn’t spread out.

The outcome was the same.

After two throws, her arms ached, her strength was gone, and even her breathing grew heavy.

Mason stood nearby, watching her flushed, wornout face. He shook his head, amused and helpless.

He couldn’t stand by anymore. Stepping forward, he smoothly took the net from her hands. Let me do it.

He paused, eyes flicking to her slightly shaking arms. You really don’t have much strength left.

That comment instantly hit a nerve, lighting up Amelia’s embarrassment and irritation.

She glared at his calm, goodlooking face and snapped, halfcomplaining, halfpouting. And whose fault do you think that is?

Mason chuckled.

He followed her lead and admitted it casily. Mine.”

That straightforward answer knocked the words right out of her mouth.

Seeing the undisguised indulgence in his eyes, she felt like all her anger hit something soft and useless.

In the end, her fake anger fizzled out into a small huff.

Still, Amelia knew when to give in and when to ask for help.

She obediently handed the heavy net to Mason, her voice turning soft and flattering. Mason, I’m counting on you.

Mason clicked his tongue, took the net, and handled it easily. It was nothing like her earlier struggle.

He tested the weight, raised an eyebrow, and dragged out his words just to tease her. Oh, so now you listen? Too late.”

Even though he said that, he didn’t hesitate at all.

He stepped back twice, swung his arm, and snapped his wrist with smooth skill.

The wild, uncooperative net from Amelia’s hands suddenly behaved in his. It flew in a clean arc, opened wide like an umbrella, and dropped perfectly over the spot he picked.

The whole move was clean and controlled.

Amelia stared, eyes wide.

Unfortunately, a cool throw didn’t mean a perfect result.

When Mason pulled the net back, there were only weeds, stones, and a few tiny catfish flopping at the bottom.
