No Sex for Six Years Because of Her? I'm Done novel Chapter 47

**Chapter 47: Locked Doors**

Just as Ethan’s fingers were about to brush against Amelia’s skin, she abruptly turned her head away, a reflexive action that caught him off guard.

Ethan’s hand hung suspended in the air, a moment of vulnerability that felt painfully awkward.

“You chose to look the other way back then. So why pretend to care now?” Amelia’s voice sliced through the tension, her smile sharp and cold, like a winter’s wind that cuts through to the bone.

Her gaze met his, filled with a storm of conflicting emotions, and then she did something that completely took Ethan by surprise.

With a calmness that belied the turmoil beneath, Amelia raised her hand and methodically unbuttoned the top two buttons of her loose hospital gown.

As the fabric parted, the neckline fell open, exposing her delicate collarbone and the pale, unblemished skin of her shoulder, an intimate glimpse that felt both shocking and vulnerable under the harsh glare of the hospital lights.

“Hannah says something and you believe it right away. Isn’t that how it is?” Her voice was steady, almost laced with cruelty. “So do you want to check for yourself? See if I’m clean enough for you?”

Ethan felt his breath hitch in his throat, caught between disbelief and the undeniable pull of her words.

His gaze involuntarily dropped to the exposed neckline, where her skin glowed softly, almost ethereally, under the fluorescent lights. The sight stung his vision, a painful reminder of the distance that had grown between them.

In a rush of instinct, he grabbed the fabric and yanked it closed, his heart racing.

“Are you out of your mind?” he hissed, the words escaping in a rush of disbelief and anger.

“I’m not,” Amelia replied, her icy gaze unwavering. “I just wanted you to see what you were really thinking.”

Her cold stare pierced through him like a blade, and the anger he had clung to so fiercely faltered, caught in his throat like a bitter lump.

He took a step back, the weight of her words pressing down on him, and struggled to find a coherent response. “I … I was worried about you. The moment I heard you were in the hospital, I came straight here.”

He hesitated, searching for the right words. “And I thought dinner with Beatrice was just a normal meal. I didn’t think it meant anything.”

“Normal meal?” Amelia’s laugh was short and bitter, a sound that echoed in the sterile room. “Ethan, we’ve been married for years. Do you really think my relationship with Beatrice is so peaceful that we can sit down and eat together like nothing happened?”

Silence enveloped them, heavy and suffocating.

Ethan remained silent, fully aware of the kind of life Amelia endured within the confines of the Harlows. He understood how Beatrice had relentlessly targeted her, time and again.

And tonight, in his anger, he had been too absorbed in his own feelings to pause and consider what Amelia was facing all alone.

He could see the disappointment flicker in her eyes, a reflection of the hurt he had caused. After what felt like an eternity of silence, he finally managed to voice the words he seldom uttered.

“I’m sorry.”

His gaze fell to the floor, his voice rough and strained. “I shouldn’t have left you alone tonight. I won’t do it again.”
