No Sex for Six Years Because of Her? I'm Done novel Chapter 48

**TITLE: My Heart Waited Too Long and Choosing Freedom**
**Chapter 48: The One Who Watched**

The tears that Amelia had been valiantly stifling finally broke free, cascading from her eyes in a torrent of emotion.

Far down the dimly lit hallway, a tall silhouette lingered in the shadows, unnoticed by her.

His arm, carefully wrapped in pristine white bandages, moved with deliberate slowness as he approached Amelia’s room.

Though his face was strikingly handsome, devoid of any discernible expression, his eyes bore a chilling darkness—an abyss that concealed thoughts and feelings that no one could decipher.

He didn’t bother to knock. There was no hesitation in his movements; he simply leaned against the wall opposite her door, enveloped in silence.

As he stood there, he listened intently to the muffled sobs that floated through the closed door, each sound a poignant reminder of her pain. The harsh glare of the fluorescent lights stretched his shadow across the cold floor, casting him as a solitary figure, one who seemed to be an outsider in this world filled with warmth and life.

He remained there throughout the night, a silent guardian, his presence a quiet testament to his concern.

Only when the first light of dawn began to illuminate the sky did he finally straighten up and slip away, leaving no trace of his vigil.

By noon the following day, Amelia completed the paperwork required for her discharge.

Instead of returning to the Rowe Group design department, she instructed the driver to take her directly to her studio, an oasis of creativity and solitude.

Her body still ached from the ordeal, yet she summoned every ounce of willpower to power on her computer and pull up the revision requests for the Stellar Attire project.

All she desired now was to finalize the project swiftly and erase her association with Rowe Group once and for all.

For two consecutive days, Amelia chose not to step foot in Rowe Group.

Ethan felt a sharp pang in his chest, as if something jagged was lodged deep within.

His annoyance simmered at Amelia’s apparent disregard for his efforts, but beneath that irritation lay a deep-seated worry for her well-being.

Countless times, he picked up his phone, his thumb hovering over her name, yearning to reach out. Yet, every time the memory of that night when she had shut him out flooded back, his pride clamped down on the impulse, refusing to let him reach out.

He couldn’t bring himself to lower his defenses.

That morning, Ethan donned a crisp shirt and adjusted his tie, preparing to leave for work.

Just as he stepped outside, Hannah called out to him, breaking the silence of the morning.

She was clad in a smart cream-colored office suit, a departure from her usual attire, and she appeared somewhat out of place.

A flicker of triumph danced in Hannah’s eyes, but as she lifted her head, her expression transformed into one of gratitude, a timid smile gracing her lips. “Thank you, Ethan.”

As they approached the Rowe Group building, Hannah spoke again, her tone suddenly serious.

“Ethan, drop me at the bus stop up ahead.”

She continued with a mature, sensible air, “You’re the CEO. I’m just a new intern. If people see me getting out of your car, there will be gossip. I don’t want to cause trouble for you.”

She was even considerate enough to keep her distance, and Ethan felt his irritation begin to dissipate.

He pulled over, his tone softening as he spoke. “Hannah, I’m not blaming you. But reporters are always on the lookout for anything to twist into a scandal. If it continues, it could harm the company’s reputation.”

“I know,” Hannah replied sweetly, nodding in understanding. She unbuckled her seatbelt, then turned back to him before stepping out. “Don’t worry, Ethan. Once I’m inside, I’ll find a way to clear things up. I’ll make sure everyone knows nothing is going on between us.”

As he watched her walk away, Ethan felt his doubts begin to fade.

Perhaps he had been overthinking everything.

He drove away, oblivious to the satisfied smile that blossomed across Hannah’s face once his car vanished from sight.
