“You can’t do it in the city,” he explained with a chuckle. “But we’re out in the countryside, so it’s fine. Besides, Hayden has been talking about it for a long time. We should grant at least one of his Christmas wishes.”

She shook her head and gave the perfect excuse. “I can’t think of any better words right now. I lost so much this afternoon that my mind is still blur.”

When they reached the village entrance, a small pickup truck was indeed waiting there.
