Chapter 585 Love Over Legacy

At exactly 10:00 a.m., Tim gathered all the employees in the conference room.

He kept it short. First, he summed up last year’s results. Then he went over the plan for the new year.

Of course, the best part came at the end.

“Finally…” Tim cleared his throat and broke into a wide smile. “To thank everyone for your hard work this past year, on behalf of our CEO, I’ve prepared a gift for each of you!”

The moment he finished, cheers filled the room.

A generous gift was the best kind of motivation. Everyone’s energy shot up right away.

After the meeting, Amelia was about to head back to her office when Tim called out, “Amelia, come to my office for a minute.”

She felt a little puzzled but followed him in.

Tim took out several nicely wrapped boxes from a cabinet and set them on the coffee table in front of her.

“Here,” he said, handing them over. “Lily brought these from her hometown. She was worried you might’ve eaten too much rich food over Christmas, so she brought some tea and herbal tonic for you.”

Amelia looked at the boxes, then at Tim. He was smiling from ear to ear.

She couldn’t help smiling too. Then she asked, half teasing, “That look on your face… how are things going with you and Lily?”

At the mention of Lily, Tim’s smile grew even brighter. There was even a hint of that proud, goofy look of a new dad.

He scratched his head, a little shy.

“We talked it through,” he said. “We’re keeping the baby. After the holidays, I’ll go with her for her checkups.”

Amelia felt truly happy for them.

It seemed that trip home for the holidays had done more than solve their problem. It had brought them much closer.

Her mood lifted too. She joked, “That’s great! I’ll get a gift ready. I guess I’m going to be a godmother.”

They chatted for a bit. Then Tim’s smile faded slightly. He looked at her, his tone turning more serious. “What about you? I heard… Mrs. Wilda showed up?”

Tim was Mason’s most trusted partner. There was no way something like that would stay hidden from

him.

Amelia’s smile softened. She answered calmly, “Yes. But we’ll handle whatever comes. I trust Mason.”

Tim looked at her and went on. “But don’t take Mrs. Wilda too seriously.

“She used to hold all the real power. Back then, what she said went. But that’s old news.

“Since Mason officially took over, do you really think he did nothing? Legal business moves have already diluted Mrs. Wilda’s shares. In the boardroom, she’s just there for show. She can’t stir up much trouble.

“And with Mason’s own ability, plus everything he’s built outside the company, even if he walked away, it wouldn’t hurt him at all. But this company though…” Tim paused and gave Amelia a meaningful look. “That’s a different story.

“Do you get what I’m saying?”

Amelia froze for a moment.

Of course she understood.

Mason no longer depended on his family. They depended on him to keep their reputation thriving.

He must have seen the situation coming long ago. While no one was paying attention, Mason had quietly built an empire of his own.

When Amelia walked out of Tim’s office, her steps felt lighter.

She was no longer the girl who hid behind Mason, scared and looking for protection.

Now, she could stand beside him. And she was willing to face whatever came with him.

When she got back to her office, her assistant was already waiting there, holding a thick stack of documents.
