Chapter 608 A New Owner
Except she had miscalculated one thing.
And that was how well Mason knew Amelia–and how well he knew his own family.
When Miles finally forced out that single, strained word, Mason let the corner of his mouth tug upward in a cold, humorless smile.
He didn’t even need to go upstairs and check the so–called evidence.
His voice, when it came, was arctic. “Do I really look that easy to fool?”
The expression Phoebe had been so carefully maintaining was locked in place.
The tears in her eyes hadn’t even had time to fall. They just hung there awkwardly.
Wilda was thrown off by her grandson’s complete one–eighty.
“What kind of talk is that! At my age, I saw it with my own eyes and heard it with my own ears–could I have framed her? Are you questioning me, or are you questioning Miles?
“I told you from the start that the woman had too high an opinion of herself and too many tricks up her sleeve. I told you she had no business setting foot in the Everett household, and you wouldn’t listen. Well, now you see, don’t you? All it takes is a little of your affection, and she’s strutting around in front of me, not even pretending to respect her elders. You still want to marry a woman like that? Are you trying to piss me off to death?”
The old woman’s voice climbed higher and higher, a stream of accusations, piling every imaginable fault at Amelia’s feet.
But her tearful, heartfelt tirade only deepened the impatience on Mason’s face.
“Enough.”
He cut her off, cold.
Mason’s gaze drifted to the deep night beyond the window. His voice was even, but every word landed like a blade. “I know what kind of person Amelia is. Better than either of you. If she hadn’t been pushed into a corner, she would never have raised her voice. And she certainly would never have walked out without a
word.”
His gaze slowly returned, settling on Wilda and Phoebe.”
“If either of you had shown the slightest awareness that you were guests in someone else’s home, it would never have come to this.”
“Guests? This is my grandson’s home. It is part of your property! In a place like this, I’m the mistress. Where can’t I go? What can’t I touch?”
“Right.” Mason nodded. “You’re absolutely right. You believe this is my property, so you think that means you can do whatever you want here and walk anywhere you please..

“Then don’t blame me for what happens next.”
And with that, under Wilda and Phoebe’s uncertain, watchful stares, Mason calmly pulled his phone out of his suit pocket.
“Ms. Rayne. I need you to arrange something. Transfer the villa on the hillside—the one in my name–into Amelia Harlow’s name. Immediately. Yes, the one we’re currently living in.”
“W–what?” Phoebe was the first to register what he’d just said.
Her eyes went huge. Her pupils were full of pure disbelief.
She nearly convinced herself she’d misheard.
Mason… Mason was saying what?
He was giving this villa… to Amelia?
Wilda, after a brief stunned silence, burst out, “You’ve lost your mind!
“Mason! Do you have any idea what you’re doing? This villa is worth hundreds of millions! You can’t just give it away! And it’s Everett property! Who gave you the right to hand it off to someone else without my approval?”
She thought throwing the Everett name around would be enough to rein in her out–of–control grandson.
Mason only lowered the phone from his ear, unconcerned.
He looked at his grandmother with a cold, distant expression. “This villa is a private property I bought with the profits from my own company. Not a single penny of Everett Group money was involved. It has nothing to do with the family’s finances. So I can give it to whoever I want. I don’t need anyone’s approval.
“You said it yourself just now. On your own property, you can do whatever you want. Well, this villa has just changed owners.
“So, Wilda, Ms. Jewell. Please leave. Now. Or wait until tomorrow, and I’ll escort you out myself.”
Wilda had never, in her wildest dreams, imagined things would come to this.
The status she was so proud of, the authority she had leaned on to steamroll everything in her path- stripped away in one clean, brutal move.
Her vision darkened at the edges. For a moment, she was so furious she couldn’t form words. She could only point at Mason, her lips trembling, and not a single sound came out.
Phoebe, meanwhile, had been burned hollow by jealousy.
A villa this vast, this luxurious… she had grown up in wealth and comfort, and even her family would have to think twice about buying something on this scale.
And Mason had just handed it over, for Amelia, without so much as a blink.

Why her?
Why did Amelia get to be the one?
Phoebe’s eyes went red with fury. The poison of her jealousy loosened her tongue. She flew at him, accusing. “Mason! Have you been bewitched by that woman? For her, you don’t even want your own grandma anymore?”
