Chapter 622 He’s Loaded
One, ten, hundred, thousand…
She counted on. But then, somewhere along the way, she gave up entirely.
The number had already gone far beyond her comprehension. It was so vast it could make even the billionaires on global rich lists look dim in comparison.
Amelia’s cheeks flushed bright red in an instant.
Her earlier bold declaration–I’ll take care of you–now felt like the most absurd joke in the world under the weight of that astronomical fortune.
She shoved him away and took two steps back, suddenly pouting. “Then… I won’t take care of you anymore! You don’t need it anyway!”
Seeing her flustered reaction, Mason’s smile deepened.
He put his phone away and slowly stepped closer.
“I don’t need it,” he said, leaning slightly forward, his dark eyes locking onto hers like he was coaxing her, or cornering her. “Then who does?”
Amelia felt a strange pressure under his gaze, but she refused to back down. Her mind, in a moment of impulse, blurted out the most provocative thing she could think of. “There are plenty of young, handsome guys out there. My money will always have somewhere useful to go. After all…”
She paused deliberately, flashing him a bright, almost challenging smile. “I’m still young.”
The air around them seemed to freeze instantly.
Mason’s gaze darkened in an instant, something sharp and dangerous surfacing beneath the calm.
“You’re planning that far ahead, eh?” His voice dropped, cold and restrained.
Amelia’s heart skipped. The shift in his aura made her instinctively tense, but her stubborn pride refused to let her retreat. “So what if I am?” she shot back.
But the moment the words left her mouth, she regretted it. She quickly grabbed the neatly folded sleepwear from the bed, turned around, and rushed toward the bathroom as if something terrifying was chasing her.
Bang! She slammed the door shut and locked it behind her.
Silence filled the bedroom. Mason stood alone in place, his expression dark as storm clouds.
After a long pause, he let out a low, unreadable huff.
Young, handsome guys?
She certainly had the imagination.

Chapter 622 He’s Loaded
Steam filled the bathroom, and Amelia stepped out, wrapped in a soft towel.
But the moment her eyes landed on the bed, she paused. The man who should have been waiting for her was already lying on his side under the blanket. He was breathing steadily as if he were asleep.
He had apparently gone to the guest bathroom first, taken care of everything, and returned without a sound.
A faint sense of disappointment she couldn’t quite name settled in her chest.
She walked over quietly and stopped by the bed. Under the warm bedside light, she studied his sleeping face.
His profile was sharp and defined, yet strangely calm. He looked almost harmless like this.
“Mason?” she called softly. “You’re sleeping already?”
The man on the bed shifted slightly, as if stirred, but did not open
his
eyes.
A low, thick “mm” escaped him, rough with fatigue. “Tired,” he murmured.
Then, he pulled the blanket up slightly and went still again.
Amelia bit her lip.
Tomorrow, she would leave for a business trip, and she would be away for several days.
Her period had already ended a while ago, so they could technically get intimate.
Given his usual domineering and demanding nature, this should have been the night he refused to let her go easily to make up for the next few days apart.
So why had he simply fallen asleep?
He didn’t even give her a goodnight kiss.
Her thoughts began to spiral.
Was he truly exhausted from work?
Or was he still upset about what she said earlier?
Or worse… Had they already slipped into some early stage of emotional fatigue?
