No Sex for Six Years Because of Her? I'm Done novel Chapter 64

**TITLE: My Heart Waited Too Long and Choosing Freedom**
**Chapter 64: Guilt and Pain**

“The Harlows have come back into my life once more,” Amelia began, her voice barely a whisper, yet heavy with the weight of memories.

“Upon discovering my whereabouts, they learned that I had found refuge with the wealthiest family in the nation—the Everetts. My comfortable life was a bitter pill for them to swallow.”

A deep sigh escaped her lips as she continued, “On one side, they wielded those so-called eighteen years of nurturing me like a weapon, trying to manipulate my emotions. They insisted I return to marry Ethan, a man I had never even laid eyes on, just to fulfill Beatrice’s role.”

“But that wasn’t all,” she added, her expression darkening. “They went to the Everetts and spun a web of deceit. They painted me as a schemer, a girl willing to claw her way up the social ladder at any cost.”

Amelia paused, her mind swirling with confusion and pain. “And then… everything spiraled. I can’t even begin to describe what happened next,” she confessed, her eyes squeezing shut as if to block out the memories that sliced through her like shards of glass. “Ethan’s demeanor shifted overnight. He turned frigid, his warmth replaced by ice.”

“He accused me of having deceived Mrs. Everett from the very beginning. He claimed that the adoption was a ruse, a clever ploy I orchestrated with the Harlows. He believed I had exploited the Everetts’ kindness to help the Harlows gain access to their world.”

“I pleaded with him, time and again, to see my truth, but my words fell on deaf ears. To him, every explanation I offered was nothing more than a feeble excuse,” she lamented.

In those days, Amelia had been a delicate balance of pride and fragility. The accusations felt like daggers, and the betrayal from someone she held dear was unbearable.

“I was too young, too raw with emotion… After one explosive argument, I told him I was leaving the Everetts. I declared that everything between us was finished.”

“The day I vacated the Everett residence, Evan, ever the protective brother, insisted on driving me. He wouldn’t let me go alone.”

“But fate had other plans,” she murmured, her voice trembling. “On his way to fetch me, he was involved in a car accident.”

Lily’s heart ached, her instincts kicking in as she instinctively grasped Amelia’s hand, offering her silent support.

“When I received the call and rushed to the hospital, the doctors delivered devastating news. The nerves in both of Evan’s legs were severely damaged. Even if he survived, he would be confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life.”

Amelia raised a shaky hand to her face, her fingers pressing against her skin as hot tears streamed through.

“Evan had a girlfriend. They were blissfully in love, planning their future together, dreaming of a wedding the following year… But that accident shattered everything.”

“Even after he regained consciousness, he tried to comfort me. He insisted it wasn’t my fault, that it was merely an accident. But how could I absolve myself of the blame? If I hadn’t been so obstinate about leaving, if he hadn’t come to get me, he wouldn’t have been hurt!”

“I can’t seem to forgive myself…” she whispered, the weight of her guilt suffocating her.

That day in the hospital had morphed into a relentless nightmare, haunting her every night for the past six years.
