No Sex for Six Years Because of Her? I'm Done novel Chapter 63

**My Heart Waited Too Long and Choosing Freedom**
**Chapter 63: Expiration Date**

Amelia sat across from Lily, the weight of the world pressing down on her shoulders. “Then explain it,” Lily urged, her voice steady yet curious. She tilted her chin toward the window, her gaze drifting outside. Taking a deliberate sip of her rich, aromatic coffee, she continued, “Stardale Group’s headquarters is situated right in the heart of downtown. They’ve planted those same bluebells in the flowerbeds out front. I drive by there frequently, so I remember them vividly.”

Amelia’s hand froze mid-motion, her coffee cup hovering just before her lips.

Following Lily’s gaze, she observed the bluebells swaying gently in the breeze, their delicate petals dancing gracefully.

Wait a minute… Aren’t those the flowers Mr. Whitmore specifically asked me to care for?

And wasn’t that one of the reasons my rent was lowered?

What does any of this have to do with a boss from Stardale I’ve never even laid eyes on?

“Oh? That’s quite a coincidence,” Amelia replied, setting her cup down with a slight clink. Her tone was devoid of enthusiasm, almost flat.

In a gesture of gratitude for Lily’s unwavering support, Amelia had insisted on treating her to a lavish dinner.

However, Lily shook her head, her practicality shining through. “The contract isn’t signed yet. Nothing is finalized. We’re only halfway there. Once everything is confirmed, you can take me to a three-star Michelin restaurant. For tonight, let’s keep it simple.”

They eventually settled on a fondue restaurant bustling with patrons.

The cheese in the pot bubbled and hissed, filling the air with a warm, inviting aroma.

The lively and cozy atmosphere enveloped them, making it seem as though all their worries could dissolve into the rich, gooey cheese.

Lily ordered with the ease of someone well-versed in the culinary arts, checking off a long list of ingredients they both enjoyed. She handled the entire process like a dependable big sister, always in control of the situation.

Amelia watched her from across the table, a wave of warmth flooding her chest.

She felt incredibly fortunate to have Lily by her side all these years.

“What’s on your mind? You should eat,” Lily said, her voice warm as she placed a piece of food onto Amelia’s plate. “Try this. The food here is fantastic.”

Amelia nodded, taking a bite and savoring the flavor.

“Oh, right,” Lily said, her mouth half-full, “you’re meeting the Big Boss tomorrow. Feeling nervous?”

Amelia didn’t hesitate to respond honestly. “A little.”

“Don’t be,” Lily encouraged, her eyes sparkling with confidence. “You’re incredibly talented. Your portfolio is the best business card you could ever have. No matter how enigmatic that boss may be, he’s still just a client. As long as your design impresses him, you’ll be just fine.”

For the first time, she opened up to someone else about her past.

“Lily, you know I wasn’t the Harlows’ biological daughter.

“When I turned eighteen, the Harlows found their real daughter, Beatrice. And then they unceremoniously kicked me out. They claimed that raising me for eighteen years was already a generous act.”

“I had no place to go. It was Mrs. Everett—Mason’s mother—who took me to the Everett house.”

When Amelia mentioned Nora, her voice softened, revealing a glimmer of fondness. “Other than Mason’s grandmother, everyone there treated me kindly. Evan always looked out for me, and Mrs. Everett provided me with a real home.”

“What about Mason?” Lily inquired, her interest piqued.

“He…” Amelia allowed a small smile to escape. “He was always like that. He appeared cold, but deep down, he was anything but.

“I lived at the Everett Residence for three years. Those were probably the safest and happiest three years of my life.”

Yet, every gift from fate has its expiration date.

“Three years later, the Harlows faced a crisis. Their cash flow collapsed, and they needed a marriage alliance with the Rowes to salvage the company. But Beatrice was proud and arrogant. She believed the Rowes had a decent background but weren’t ‘elite’ enough for her. So, she faked an illness and refused to marry.”
