But she quickly masked it with an exaggerated laugh. “Ha. If she likes staying with Ethan that much, then good for her. Makes things easier for me. Raising a kid is such a hassle. Why would I put myself through that?”

Those cold, heartless words tore apart every bit of false warmth she had been putting on.

Then she stood up cleanly and without hesitation.

A woman who could not even forgive her own child would never truly let go of the past.

“Tch…” Hannah sneered. “Amelia, don’t tell me you think having Mason backing you means you’re someone important now. What, your wings got stronger so now you dare refuse my dad’s business? Are you scared of me?”

Amelia gave that calm reply and turned to leave.

As she watched Amelia disappear around the corner of the cafe, Hannah slowly pulled her gaze back. The malice in her eyes twisted beneath her flawless makeup.

Then Hannah reached out and slowly slipped her hand into her collar. Her fingertips brushed against something cool and smooth.

She yanked it out hard.

It was a flawless white chalcedony ring, its inner surface carved with intricate ancient patterns.

“Because we share the same enemy.” Beatrice bent down and leaned close to Hannah’s ear. “As long as she falls straight into hell, this small price means nothing to me.”
