Chapter 651 Making Her Choice
As she finished speaking, the look in Amelia’s eyes turned cold.

“Ethan. You grew up with Hannah as childhood friends. Are you telling me you knew nothing about the fact that she was adopted?”
It was framed as a question, but it came across more as an accusation.
It was an accusation of his past negligence and his poor judgment of the people around him.
Ethan hesitated, as if he couldn’t find the words he wanted to say. Then, he spoke with a bitter voice, “L… I really didn’t know. I find it ridiculous, too.”
As if needing to justify himself, he hurried to explain, “That’s why, before coming to Premond, I spoke with some of the former household servants. They told me that not long after Hannah was born, she fell gravely ill, and the doctors believed she wouldn’t survive. Her mother then took her back to her hometown, claiming there was a renowned physician there who could cure any illness. They stayed away for several years. By the time Hannah returned to Eldoria, she was already a lively toddler, running around her own.”

Ethan continued, “As for what happened during those years, no one seems to know. Later, when the Grays went bankrupt, Hannah’s parents passed away, and she was left without any surviving relatives. So there’s no way to verify the story or prove whether she’s truly the Grays‘ biological daughter.”
That effectively cut off any further leads or guesswork.
In other words, as long as Hannah didn’t slip up and Lenny believed that she was his daughter, there was nothing to challenge her identity.
Seeing Amelia’s face fall, Ethan was once again overcome with guilt.
Hannah was someone he’d known for many years. He was partly to blame for how cruel and unhinged she was now.
“Amelia,” Ethan spoke with difficulty. “Maybe… you should drop the project. I’ll cover all your losses, including any penalties for a breach of contract. I’ll pay it for you!”
This was the only solution he could think of to make it up to her and also to protect her.
Amelia trembled slightly.
Amelia turned her head slightly, looking out the window at Premond’s glittering night view. When she next spoke, her voice was soft and more emotional, “Besides… No matter what Hannah wants to do, Mr. Jewell personally told me the story of him and his wife. I believe that kind of deep love and regret cannot be faked. So, I still want to try and help him make up for the regret he has carried with him for 20 years and make sure that this fashion show for his late wife can go on as planned.”
“No!”
“No way!”
Two voices rang out at almost the same time.
For the first time, Mason and Ethan agreed on something.
Ethan’s brows were furrowed as he reached out for Amelia’s hand on the table. The pressure from his grip was enough to express everything else he hadn’t said.
“Amelia, this isn’t just any project. We don’t know what Hannah is up to. If you continue to work on this project, you’re making yourself a target and walking right into her trap. I can’t let you take that kind of risk.”
Ethan was even more agitated, a look of panic surfacing in his eyes. “Amelia, are you crazy? This is obviously a trap set up by Hannah. She’s doing anything she can to get you on this project. She’s definitely up to something! Have you forgotten what she did to you before?”
