“What happened?” Amelia asked.

“Then go,” Amelia said immediately. “Your brother comes first. This is Eldoria, it’s the middle of the day. and Hannah isn’t the only person I’ll be with. I’ll stay alert. I’ll be fine.”

“No.” Mason said it without any deliberation.

After last night’s performance, there was no version of today where he sent Amelia into that situation alone.

He thought for a moment and made a decision. “I’m sending two security personnel with you. They stay in your line of sight the entire time. If anything feels wrong, you call me immediately.”

Amelia recognized the look on his face for what it was. She knew she wouldn’t win this one, and honestly she didn’t want to. She nodded. “Fine.”

The driver took Amelia and the two quiet, capable bodyguards to the agreed location.
