If one were to observe the gown without questioning its origins, they would be struck by the exquisite craftsmanship that rivaled the finest haute couture. The brocade shimmered under the studio lights, its cool texture eliciting a sense of nostalgia within Amelia as her fingers glided over its surface. A flicker of reluctance surged through her—how could something so beautiful be leaving her possession?

After Amanda departed with the gown, hours slipped by like sand through an hourglass, each minute stretching into eternity. When she finally returned, the atmosphere shifted palpably. Amanda stormed in, her expression dark and stormy, as she tossed her bag onto the couch with a force that echoed her frustration.

That demeanor was far from the satisfaction of a successful sale; it felt more akin to someone who had just emerged from a battlefield.

“What on earth happened?” Amelia inquired, rising from her chair and making her way to the water dispenser. She filled a glass, her curiosity piqued. “Was the sale a disaster?”

Amanda snatched the glass from Amelia’s hand, gulping down a significant portion before exhaling a breath heavy with exasperation. “Amelia, that customer was an absolute nightmare! I’ve never encountered anyone so impossibly picky and difficult to please!”

As she spoke, her voice took on a theatrical flair, each word dripping with disbelief. “Did she bring a magnifying glass or something? Right from the start, she interrogated me: ‘Is this real brocade? It’s not a knockoff, is it? What about the embroidery thread? Will it fray after one wash?’ And she even had the audacity to quiz me about the hand-stitching on the buttons!”

The more Amanda recounted her ordeal, the more animated she became, her indignation palpable. “We’re selling this gown at a discount, yet she acted as though she was purchasing a couture masterpiece! She wanted to know every minute detail—the material specifications, the craftsmanship, the design inspiration! Thank goodness I was there when you created this gown; otherwise, I would have been forced to call you for backup right then and there!”

Amelia couldn’t help but chuckle at Amanda’s fervor, finding a certain humor in her righteous anger.

“So tell me,” she asked gently, a teasing smile playing on her lips, “did you manage to sell the gown after all that?”

“I did!” Amanda proclaimed, lifting her chin defiantly. “After all that hassle, I had no choice but to close the deal! Otherwise, my entire afternoon would have been a complete waste!”

Amelia nodded, a sense of understanding washing over her as she offered a comforting pat on Amanda’s shoulder. “I appreciate your hard work. But if the customer had that many questions, it likely means she intends to wear it to some significant event. When viewed from that angle, her inquiries make more sense.”

Amanda pouted for a moment, but her expression softened as she muttered, “I hope the next customer we deal with isn’t nearly as much of a headache as she was.”

Around 3 p.m., Amelia’s phone buzzed, breaking the tension in the studio. It was Lily.

“I’ve got the contract draft ready for you. Can you swing by now? We can review it together in person and see if there’s anything that needs tweaking or adding. After we finalize everything, let’s go out for dinner tonight,” Lily’s voice was buoyant and cheerful, a refreshing contrast to the earlier chaos.
