Alpha Gretta
She felt it, a scroll had opened itself, and she made her way to her office to see which one. There it was on her desk waiting for her, glowing a slight bluish colour to indicate its intent had been activated. Her eyes moved to the name that it bore; Slade Southerland.
‘Ah’ she thought as she sat down and reached out to pick it up, the boy must have found his missing Beta, it had taken him six and half years after leaving the college to track her down. Never gave up, she smiled to herself, she didn’t think that he would. Had been utterly devastated at the loss of her.
She broke the seal and took the end caps off and watched as it unfolded a little, then she sat and read it.
Frowned deeply at what she was reading, that poor boy had been through so much and in just a short period of time.
No wonder he’d been in full distress that day. He had been trying to hold himself together, and Audrey’s own deception and attempt at coercing him had tipped him past his limit, and broken his resolve.
She could also see why he was out there searching for his missing Beta. She’d been betrayed by that pack’s hierarchy, both the Alpha and Luna’s units, her own father had screwed her over in the worst way possible. Slade was right to think that they were not fit to reign anymore.
From all she was reading, and the knowledge she had herself of Slade and his interactions with his father, here at Alpha College in her office, with her sitting right there listening even. That Alpha and Beta had staged that wolfed out fight, had actively been trying to make the boy do as they wanted, and risked doing it in front of herself and three other council members.
She sighed heavily, Alpha Roman Southerland had misled his own son and heir, all in order to have the Beta heir passed over. Had made an Alpha deal with his own son, and then had broken it as well. Had paid that boy’s Beta, Oriana Vale, the biggest of insults and from what she had read, all because they had decided she would reject the boy, when they believed she’d scent him out.
Stupid, is what it was. That girl would likely have just stared at Slade if he was her Mate, huffed in annoyance about her brother being given the position of the future Beta, and then accepted Slade as her Mate.
They’d not thought about the conception of a child, something Oriana would have known herself, because she was a month into her pregnancy. The leadership of that pack had ruined the next generation. The way they had done it was curious to her, considering what they thought. It was so very wrong.
She could read from the scroll that Slade’s missing Beta had a brother that coveted her position. He did everything he could to try and make her look bad, always reminded them she was a girl as well. All in order to take it from her. That the current Beta appeared to have turned a blind eye to his son’s doings. Nothing inside that pack’s leadership was going to be left out of the investigation.
She’d asked Slade if he wondered just how many times they’d done this before, and she too now wondered if that father of his, had meddled in their pack members’ lives. This was the worst kind of decéption, pack betrayal of the highest level.
Alphas that thought they were above reproach, this particular one had even dared to go so far as to include the involvement of the Alpha Council in his plans. That was his second mistake. The first being breaking Wolfen Laws on coercion. Slade thought it was only in them telling him they thought that Oriana was his Mate, the night before the full moon.
But it was not; it was in everything they did, all the plotting and planning to bring about what they wanted; weeks of planning, she couldn’t investigate this herself, nor could Hailey, Patrick or Tyler, because Alpha Roman had played them all as well.
Four members of the Wolfen Council were now involved in the deception and deceit, the betrayal of the Alpha and Beta Heirs of the Highland Hills Pack. Alpha Roman, his Luna and both their Units were now in deep trouble. They had likely not thought through all the ramifications; of using the Wolfen Council members, here in the college, to help bring about what they were trying to do.
She pulled Hailey, Patrick and Tyler into her office after classes finished for the day and let them all read it.
All of their jaws ticked, and she felt anger roll off them as well.
“This is what the college is for, to try and stop this type of thing happening out there. Alpha Roman was one of ours, was he not?” Patrick grated out.
“Yes.” Gretta nodded, “four generations of Highland Hills, have been here to this very college.” She’d checked that herself.
“Right, this calls for full council awareness,” Hailey stated.
“Agreed.” Tyler nodded “Gretta, a copy of this, to all council members and a meeting to be convened. I presume Slade has found his missing Beta?”
“I would think so, his intent, from my recollection, is to have us go into that pack and investigate fully all the actions of those involved. So he can show Oriana the truth and bring her home to the pack.” Gretta stated with a nod, “He told me that himself.”
“Right, get this off to the rest of the council right away.” Patrick stated.
Gretta did just that, copied that scroll and emailed it off to the other eight council members across the country. Marked it Priority 1 – Council members used to enact coercion plotting, by Alpha Roman Southerland of Highland Hills Pack, Arizona.
“Neat trick.” She commented as she walked.
“Mm, I believe from that scroll and Slade’s emails to me, I know who he’s looking for.”
“He’s found her himself, Austin, that scroll only opened when he did or that was his original intent.”
“Alright, could be complicated though, bringing her in.” he stated.
“Why?” Gretta questioned right back.
“Rogue status…and” he sighed “part of a full female Alpha unit, they’re all rogues…also situated on my Mate Sloan’s mini territory, that she had set up a few years back.”
“Ah, that little group. Could get interesting then, though I’m not looking to investigate the Beta herself.”
“I’m aware, she’s the victim. Is Slade going to be willing to leave her there for the investigation?”
“Unlikely. She did have his child.” Gretta sighed to herself now.
“Hmm, a daughter, I’ve met her…” he was quiet for several minutes. “Leave him and his unit out there for now. Let’s see if he can talk her into coming back himself. I never did get the whole story out of her. Now I see why. He might be able to bring her in himself. If not, I’ll have Sloan collect them all, none will argue with her.”
“Alright Austin, till tomorrow.” Gretta stated and clicked the line closed.
An interesting turn of events.
