Slade
He walked along the front of the packhouse with Ana’s hand in his. A part of him had hoped she would take his offered hand, and another part of him didn’t think she ever would. But she put her hand in his, and he also felt her trust in him as well.
They walked right past those on the shaming post and his eyes turned not only to Anders, but then Roman as well. He stopped walking and turned to look at them both, which allowed Ana to take a single step past him before she stopped. Slade watched as both of them looked at her.
“The pack has been abolished because of you.” Roman snarled at him.
It had Slade knew, but that man didn’t know it had been given to Slade at the same time. “Palmer, I still don’t believe they understand the rules. Go remind them both of that please.”
“On it.” Palmer stated.
Slade smiled right at Roman and then moved on. That man was in for his third beating in an hour of him being home. That man had lost everything he held dear to him. His three children were all against him. The full respect of the pack he’d once run. His title as an Alpha, along with the pack itself. That had been revoked against his will and given to Slade. Likely the very person he didn’t want it to go to.
He heard both those men take hits from Palmer, and he and his beast snarled at them to keep their mouths shut and their eyes on the ground. Smiled even more when he heard Palmer state “You’re nothing but garbage to be tossed out.”
Slade did note that Charlton, Palmer’s dad, didn’t say anything to his son, nor did Dalton, Yuri’s dad. They hadn’t looked at anyone or spoken a single word, they were either actually ashamed or were not really involved to the same degree as the Roman, Elise, Anders and Bronnie. So, by obeying the rules, they would avoid unnecessary punishment.
Slade didn’t exactly know what Palmer and Yuri wanted where their parents were concerned, though it was likely their kin bonds had been revoked with them being bled to the land and pledging loyalty to him as well. Just like his had he stopped walking and looked at Palmer. “Is your kin bond still intact with them? “he motioned to Palmers’ parents.
“No. Only to those younger than myself. I can still feel my siblings.” He stated.
He nodded and moved on. That was good. It meant that neither he nor Palmer would feel anything if those out there became headless, better for them in the long run.
“I was expecting them to be punished. Don’t concern yourself with it, Slade. If I had an issue, I would have voiced it years ago. They were right there in the office discussing you taking a chosen mate, right there for that faked wolfed out fight. They were there in the Alpha’s bar when you made that deal with Roman to keep Ori inside this pack. They are not innocent.”
He nodded, was glad to hear it, because they were all likely going to die by his hand or the councils. It was very unlikely that they would survive, he would dispatch of them himself if the council did not. For what they had done to not only himself and Oriana but, Dariah, Clay and countless others within the pack.
“I imagine many here will want them dead, after what we’ve learned in the past few days.” he nodded.
“What have you learned?” Ana asked as they walked towards the pack’s hospital.
“That Roman and Elise, along with likely the entire Alpha Unit, have been using mating alliances to sell off wolves with the pack. they also seem to have found a way to hide a mate bond from some of the wolves. The ones in their line of sight for mating alliances…” he sighed “Dariah and Art, I fear, are probably Goddess-Gifted and have been kept apart by them. She’s got a mating alliance attached to her name.”
They couldn’t put pins in because shifting would see them be ripped out and only break the bones once more. He listened to the doctor explain it and sighed, looked at Zara and asked her if she was alright with this.
She nodded, “I and Jetta have agreed to it, though not being fully sedated,” she sighed, “means I could wake up during the surgery and feel it. That won’t be fun.”
“Oh, so what your saying is you’re a man whore.” Zara smiled at him. “Just what every girl wants to be, another notch on your belt.” She shoved him away from the bed. “I won’t be a notch on anyone’s belt.”
He saw the shocked expression on Vance’s face and knew it was because she’d called him a man whore, then outright informed him he’d not be getting her into his bed. It wasn’t often the man was actually turned down. If he didn’t know any better, he’d almost think Vance was the Gamma and Zara his mate.
He left Ana and Maddie there and took Vance and Palmer with him when he left the room. “Vance, just out of curiosity, what rank are your mother and father?”
“Dads a Beta, you know that. Mum’s a Gamma. Why?” he asked.
“Hmm, just a passing thought,” he stated.
“Oh,” Palmer snorted “I see it.”
