Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 101

Chapter 101

“Alright then,” Ophelia nodded, sounding considerate. “Since you’re so eager, come along.”

“Ophelia, where are you headed?” Dylan asked casually, a bit curious why Ophelia was letting Zoe tag along.

‘And it’s the first day of school, are they both ditching?’ Dylan wondered.

Ophelia shrugged, looking relaxed. “Just picking up my car, then stopping by the police station. Turns out my last accident might not have been just a normal fender bender, so they need me to come in,” she said.

“The police station?!” Zoe exclaimed, so surprised she ended up choking on her drink and started coughing hard.

“Take it easy,” Ophelia said, pretending to be concerned as she handed Zoe a glass of water. “What’s got you so worked up?” Zoe finally managed to stop coughing, staring at Ophelia in disbelief. She played dumb and asked, “Ophelia, you’re going to the police station? I thought you said you were meeting a friend?”

“I said I was meeting someone,” Ophelia explained, her eyes calm. “Never said it was a friend.”

‘But… she didn’t deny the whole friends thing, Zoe thought, feeling even more confused and annoyed.

Zoe bit down hard on her lip, frustration boiling inside her.

‘If I still don’t get that Ophelia’s playing me, then I really am an idiot, Zoe thought, embarrassment and irritation flooding her. But she didn’t dare say a word, not even letting a flicker of emotion cross her face. Deep down, she just knew Ophelia was playing games, trying to catch her off guard and make her slip up.

“Don’t want to go anymore?” Ophelia asked, her gaze razor-sharp. ‘Talk about guilty conscience,’ she thought.

Zoe drew in a shaky breath, her face full of regret. “It’s not that I don’t want to go with you, Ophelia. I just remembered I have a speech for the first day of school, so I really can’t make it.”

“Alright then,” Ophelia agreed easily, not pressing her at all.

She’d just been testing Zoe anyway, Ophelia wasn’t heading to the police station. She was actually going to the office. Last time she tried to go to the office, she ran into Alaric on the way and ended up at the hospital, so she had no choice but to skip it.

Zoe frowned, unable to figure out what Ophelia was thinking.

But she didn’t dare probe further, just feeling anxious inside.

“Ophelia, get in. I’ll take you wherever you need to go,” Dylan said, opening the car door for her.

Meeting Dylan’s knowing gaze, Ophelia flashed a smile. “Thanks, Dylan.”

“I told you, no need to so polite,” Dylan said, hopping in after her.

“Zoe, we’re heading out,” Dylan called out before driving off from the house.

As the car disappeared down the driveway, Zoe’s eyes darkened.

‘Did the police really find something?’ Zoe wondered, a chill running down her spine.
