Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 102

Chapter 102

Dylan shook his head, laughing softly with obvious affection. “Honestly, you could’ve just told her no. Why spin some wild story about the accident not being an accident? Were you trying to freak her out, or us?”

Ophelia had looked so dead serious back then, he was this close to buying it.

“Hehe, I need a legit excuse to skip school, right? Otherwise, she’d keep hounding me to go with her. I really can’t be bothered,” Ophelia said. ‘I’ve got way more important things to take care of, she thought.

“Alright, you little smarty,” Dylan said, half amused, half helpless, his eyes full of warmth.

At first, he’d really thought there was some secret behind the accident, but turned out Ophelia was just pulling Zoe’s leg. Seeing Dylan drop the subject, Ophelia smiled to herself, finally feeling a little more relaxed.

“So, Ophelia, if you made all that up for Zoe, where are you actually headed today instead of school?” Dylan asked offhandedly.

“Well, not everything was a lie. I really do need to pick up my car,” Ophelia said, flashing a teasing smile and putting on her best spoiled-little-sister act. “Would you mind driving me there? Pretty please? After that, I’ll drive myself to school.” Dylan didn’t give it much thought. “Alright.”

Soon, Dylan dropped Ophelia off to pick up her car, and the two of them went their separate ways.

Watching Ophelia drive off, Dylan shook his head with a smile in his eyes, then headed off in the opposite direction. After a while, Ophelia pulled up outside the headquarters of New Capital Tower.

Ella watched her get out and gave an exaggerated, respectful bow. “Welcome, Ms. Draven!”

Ophelia shot her an amused, helpless look. “Seriously, why are you acting silly again?”

“Hehe, it just means I really care,” Ella said, grinning as she leaned in. “But for real, is it okay for you to ditch school on the very first day?”

Ophelia was already used to Ella’s crazy energy, so she just shook her head. “It’s fine. I already gave Connor a heads-up.” She’d let him know in advance, so there was nothing to stress about.

“Boss, you’re the best,” Ella said, looping her arm through Ophelia’s and tilting her chin up. “Let’s go meet those old geezers. I can’t wait to see their faces.”

Ophelia glanced at Ella, half amused, half helpless. “Did they piss you off or something?”

‘Why is she always so excited to watch those guys embarrass themselves?’ Ophelia thought.

“Not really,” Ella said with a mischievous grin. “I’m just dying to see those board members who always act so stuck-up suddenly lose their cool. It’s gonna be hilarious.”

Seeing Ella just here for the drama, Ophelia shook her head and sighed. “Seriously, what is wrong with you?”

As they chatted, they arrived at the conference room door.

“Ready for the show,” Ella said smugly, placing both hands on the door and giving it a dramatic shove.

As soon as the door swung open, Ella bowed low, one hand behind her back and the other gesturing forward. “Ms. Draven, after you.”

Ophelia closed her eyes for a second, thinking, ‘Ugh, she’s so cringe when she acts like this. I can’t even watch.’

Suppressing her smile, Ophelia lifted her chin and strode into the conference room with an air of aloof confidence, heading straight for the front seat.

F” followed right behind, instantly dropping the playful act, suddenly all business, radiating boss vibes.
