118 Chapter 118
After all, he was Connor’s grandson, and they’d met before, so it wouldn’t hurt to be polite.
Declan gave a faint, almost imperceptible smile as he handed her the paper, then moved on to the next student.
It was just a quick, polite exchange of glances, but Zoe happened to catch it.
Seeing Ophelia and Declan exchanging looks, Zoe’s grip on her pen tightened, and she ground her teeth in silent fury.
‘Damn it, Ophelia. Can’t you go anywhere without trying to seduce someone?
‘If you already have Declan, why are you still chasing after Alaric?’ Zoe fumed inwardly.
Zoe’s eyes narrowed, a sharp glint flickering in her gaze, and a hint of something deeper flashed across her face… Soon, the papers were all handed out, and everyone started working on their tests.
The Multi-purpose Room was so quiet one could hear a pin drop, the only sound the steady rustle of pens scratching
across paper.
Half an hour later, Ophelia stood up and walked over to the podium. She set her paper down and said quietly, “Sir, I’m finished.”
The teacher looked a bit taken aback when he saw Ophelia coming up with her paper, and when she said she was done, he couldn’t help but ask again, “You really finished that fast?”
‘That’s insanely fast. Even I’d struggle to finish that quick, the teacher thought, still in shock.
“Yeah, I’m done, so I’ll head out,” Ophelia said simply, and walked out of the Multi-purpose Room.
When the others heard, they all looked up, watching Ophelia leave cool as ever, their faces showing mixed feelings.
Zoe’s eyes narrowed, her gaze unreadable, and no one could tell what she was thinking.
Daphne rolled her eyes and muttered under her breath, “She handed in her paper that fast? Bet she totally blanked. Ophelia, just wait to make a fool of yourself.”
Daphne snorted and kept answering questions, looking pretty smug, already imagining Ophelia crashing and burning.
Declan watched Ophelia leave, deep in thought. Curiosity got the better of him, and he found himself picking up her test
paper.
As his eyes scanned her answers, they snapped open in shock.
Declan jerked his head up toward the door, but Ophelia had already disappeared.
‘Her skills…’ Declan thought, a new sense of awe settling in.
Now he understood why his grandfather had bent the rules for Ophelia, letting her skip the entrance exam and placing her straight into the advanced class.
After the exam, everyone went back to their own classes.
