Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 129

129.Chapter 129

Ophelia had already figured out that Zoe had deliberately kept the training time from her.

Before Zoe could even think of a response, Ophelia’s icy voice rang out again. “As for tutoring me, just forget it. Honestly, if you have time to tutor me, maybe you should spend it working on your own grades instead,” Ophelia said coolly.

Zoe’s breath hitched, a wave of humiliation crashing over her.

Ophelia was clearly mocking her for overestimating herself, her grades were worse than Ophelia’s, yet she still had the nerve to offer tutoring.

But Zoe never actually wanted to help Ophelia with her studies. She only said that to win some brownie points, especially with Alaric still around. She was desperate to keep up her perfect image.

Seeing herself getting put in her place by Ophelia, Zoe bit her lip and looked up again, her eyes anxious. “So, if you go to the training, you’ll end up breaking your appointment with Alaric, right?”

Zoe pretended to be conflicted on Ophelia’s behalf, but Ophelia just found it laughable.

“You’ve got a point, Zoe,” Ophelia said, a mocking smile tugging at her lips, her tone laced with feigned helplessness. “But in the end, I really should put my studies first.”

Hearing that, Zoe shot a quick, almost imperceptible glance at Alaric, a flicker of triumph in her eyes.

‘Ophelia’s basically showing she doesn’t care about Alaric. He’s probably pissed at her now, Zoe thought to herself.

But to everyone’s surprise, Alaric gazed at Ophelia with pure affection in his eyes, his voice soft. “It’s alright. If Ophelia has something to do, I can wait for her. Whatever she needs comes first.”

“What?!” The whole room was stunned.

Zoe froze on the spot, Alaric’s words hitting her like a ton of bricks.

Adrian and Victoria were both left speechless, totally not expecting Alaric to say that.

They glanced at each other, both looking a bit stunned and conflicted.

Ophelia just frowned, shooting Alaric a look of pure annoyance as she snapped dismissively, “Just zip it. This has nothing to do with you.”

‘This guy isn’t helping at all, he’s just stirring the pot, Ophelia thought.

Alaric gave her a leisurely, meaningful look and said, his words loaded with implication, “Weren’t you all just talking about me a moment ago?”

‘Now you’re telling him it’s none of his business?’ Ophelia thought, a little exasperated.

Internally rolling her eyes, Ophelia snapped back, “We only mentioned your name. No need for you to butt in.”

‘And seriously, what kind of reply was that? So ambiguous, it’s bound to make people misunderstand,’ Ophelia thought.

“Alright, whatever Ophelia says,” Alaric replied, his voice so soft it gave everyone chills.

Everyone was floored. Was this really the infamous, cold-blooded CEO of Caldwell Group?

Ophelia had seen Alaric’s over-the-top performances so many times, she barely batted an eye.

‘He’s just putting on the sweet and obedient act. Honestly, this is way more restrained than when he acts all pitiful and weak, Ophelia thought.
