Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 132

132.Chapter 132

Victoria glanced at Zoe, concern flickering in her eyes. ‘Zoe really has it bad for Alaric, she thought.

Adrian shook his head. “Zoe and Alaric? No way. Even if Ophelia weren’t around, Alaric wouldn’t marry her just because of the engagement.”

He used to think Alaric just had that icy vibe.

But now he realized it wasn’t that he was cold by nature, he just didn’t care. When he actually found someone he cared about, he could soften up and actually be sweet.

“Yeah, I’ve noticed too,” Victoria said worriedly. “But I’m really concerned about Zoe, she’s just not ready to let go.”

Adrian paused for a second before sighing. “She’ll come around eventually. Alaric really doesn’t care about her at all.”

Victoria nodded after a moment’s thought.

Outside the front gate, the night air was cool and quiet.

Zoe, a little out of breath, finally caught up to Alaric after hurrying all the way.

“M-Mr. Caldwell,” Zoe said, her voice shaky as she tried to steady her breathing.

Alaric frowned, his gaze cold as he looked at her. “Did you need something?”

“N-Nothing,” Zoe stammered, trying to look dignified as she put on a polite smile. “I just wanted to walk you out, Mr. Caldwell.”

“No need. Go back,” Alaric said, his whole vibe screaming ‘keep your distance’ as he turned to get in his car.

Zoe’s heart skipped a beat as she hurriedly stepped forward to block Alaric’s path. “Wait,” she called out.

A cold, ruthless glint flashed in Alaric’s eyes as he snapped, “Move.”

“I’m sorry,” Zoe blurted out, rushing to explain. “Actually, there’s something I wanted to talk to you about.”

Alaric’s frown deepened, his gaze cold as ice. “There’s nothing for us to talk about,”

With that, he turned to get in his car.

Zoe grew desperate, stepping in front of him again. “It’s not about me, it’s about Ophelia. Something important.”

Alaric’s icy command froze mid-word, his eyes narrowing, voice dropping to a dangerous low. “Ophelia?”

Hearing Alaric say Ophelia’s name like that, Zoe felt a sharp pain in her chest, it was like a knife to the heart.

Zoe bit her lip, her eyes flickering with hesitation as she looked at Alaric, struggling to get the words out. “Actually, it’s about Ophelia and Declan.”

Alaric’s eyes narrowed instantly. ‘Declan?’ The name hit him, and something twisted in his gut.

Annoyance bubbled up inside him, but he kept his cool on the outside. “What about them?”

Zoe kept sneaking peeks at Alaric, trying to figure out what he was thinking. But his face was totally unreadable, which only made her more anxious. ‘Does he even care at all, or is he just pretending?’ she fretted.

But there was no way she was letting this chance slip away.
