137.Chapter 137
Zoe admired the photos, a sly grin on her face. ‘Ophelia, you think you’re so good at wrapping men around your finger? Fine, let’s put your skills on display for everyone to see.
‘Let’s see how you survive at Dunhollow University after this… Zoe thought, her eyes glinting with satisfaction.
Twenty minutes later, Ophelia handed her completed worksheet to Mr. Wells.
Mr. Wells shook his head, a trace of regret in his expression.
“Did you have trouble with any of the questions? There’s still plenty of time if you want to double-check,” Mr. Wells said, subconsciously assuming Ophelia might’ve given up on something.
“No,” Ophelia answered softly. “I’ve finished everything.”
Mr. Wells picked up Ophelia’s worksheet, looking a bit confused. “If you’re done, how come you don’t look happy?”
‘Shouldn’t she be pleased now that she’s finished?’ Mr. Wells wondered to himself.
Ophelia shrugged with a resigned look. “One of the questions just took me a little longer than I expected.”
She normally could’ve finished all these problems in fifteen minutes, but just like Mr. Wells said, one of them was pretty complicated.
Mr. Wells couldn’t help but twitch his lips. ‘Twenty minutes and she still thinks she was slow?’
The other students were frozen in shock, as if they’d just been hit by a bolt of lightning.
They were only halfway through their own worksheets.
Declan, though, was calm as ever. He’d seen Ophelia’s test papers before and knew exactly how strong she was.
He’d even asked Connor about her, and Connor had said that having Ophelia at Dunhollow University was a real honor for the university. Connor hadn’t said much more, but Declan believed him.
He couldn’t really explain it, but for some reason, he just trusted her.
Without even realizing it, the suspicion he’d once had toward Ophelia had faded, replaced by genuine admiration for her abilities.
Declan glanced down at his own worksheet, a small smirk on his lips. ‘Damn, I was this close, he thought.
He shook his head, then hurried to finish up the rest of his questions.
After class, the students started filing out of the Multi-purpose Room.
Meanwhile, the campus forum was already blowing up over a few photos.
Ophelia never really paid attention to the campus forum, but Ruby nudged her and told her there was some juicy gossip about her making the rounds.
With a bit of confusion, Ophelia clicked in, and what she saw left her totally speechless.
There were several photos of her and Declan, shot from angles that made them look pretty intimate.
The headlines were super misleading, and now everyone was either freaking out, cursing, or desperately hunting for clues to prove whether it was real. The forum had totally exploded.
“Ophelia, are you… okay?” Ruby asked, her face full of worry.
This level of drama was basically a full-on flame war. If Declan wasn’t the campus heartthrob, people wouldn’t be freaking out like this.
Ruby couldn’t help but worry about Ophelia. She wondered if all this would put too much pressure on her, and if Ophelia could really take all that heat.
But Ophelia just shook her head, looking completely unbothered, and even let out a mocking little laugh.
‘Seriously? Just some random photos and a bunch of made-up gossip? Pathetic tricks like this… Ophelia thought.
Ruby’s mouth fell open in surprise as she looked at Ophelia, clearly wanting to say something but stopping herself. In the end, she couldn’t help but smile a little.
From Ophelia’s first day at Dunhollow University, Ruby could see she was gorgeous and resilient, the kind of person something like this could never shake.
Seeing Ophelia’s carefree, confident vibe, Ruby
