Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 142

142.Chapter 142

They even attached the evidence, so everyone could see exactly what had happened.

Since neither of the people involved had said a word, the forum had been pretty quiet. But as soon as this notice dropped, the forum exploded.

[Oh my god, so that’s what really happened?]

[For real! I was in the Multi-purpose Room for class, and I didn’t see those two interact at all. I still can’t figure out how that rumor got so out of hand.]

[No wonder neither of them said anything. Someone was totally out to get them!]

Soon enough, the forum was flooded with relentless accusations against Zoe. She could only watch as she got dragged through the mud, powerless to defend herself.

Ophelia didn’t bother with any of it. She slung her backpack over her shoulder and strode out of the classroom, cool and collected.

As she watched Ophelia’s figure fade away, the frustration and regret in Zoe’s eyes slowly curdled into hatred.

‘Now I’m the target everyone’s aiming at. Are you satisfied, Ophelia?’ Zoe thought bitterly.

‘If you hadn’t come back to the Rowle family, would things have ended up like this? Why did you have to return, Ophelia?’ Zoe seethed.

‘You never should’ve come back to the Rowle family. You took away everything that should’ve been mine…’ Zoe seethed, bitterness burning in her chest.

After school, students trickled out of the building, heading home in small groups.

Once the evidence was out and the school acted fast, all those nasty rumors about Ophelia disappeared in a flash.

Except for Zoe, nobody thought the school’s quick move had anything to do with Ophelia. Most people figured Mr. Blackwell was just protecting Declan, making it clear whose side he was on.

Some even started gossiping that, even if the whole thing was true, Mr. Blackwell would never accept Ophelia.

“Well, well, look who it is, the desperate girl Mr. Blackwell can’t even be bothered with,” a snide voice rang out as someone blocked Ophelia’s way at the school gate.

Ophelia’s eyes flashed with anger, but her voice stayed eerily calm. “What did you just say?”

“Oh, getting all defensive now?” Daphne scoffed, chin held high. “Zoe’s such a sucker, she let you play her and didn’t even notice.

“Too bad the Blackwell family wants nothing to do with you. The moment things blew up, Mr. Blackwell handled it himself, so you didn’t even get a chance to worm your way in.”

Ophelia nearly burst out laughing at Daphne’s wild imagination. She shot back, “Are you a creative writer or something? You sure know how to make things up.”

“Drop the fake smile,” Daphne sneered, her voice dripping with sarcasm. Let me be real with you, Declan’s never going to like you.

“He’s with Felicity, your cousin from our uncle’s side.” Daphne was practically bursting with smugness, finally getting her chance to tear Ophelia down.

Ophelia blinked in disbelief. ‘Declan and Felicity? Is that for real?’
