Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 145

145.Chapter 145

Ophelia shot him a sarcastic look. “Still so interested in school stuff even after you graduated? With everything you’ve got going on, Mr. Caldwell, that’s pretty impressive.”

It was obvious Ophelia was calling Alaric out for having too much time on his hands.

He chuckled and admitted, “Honestly, it’s just because you’re here now. I want to find out more about you, from every angle

I can.”

When she met his serious gaze, Ophelia was caught off guard and, for once, didn’t have a snarky comeback.

“I appreciate your concern, Mr. Caldwell, but I’d prefer if you stopped paying so much attention to me from now on,” Ophelia replied coolly, putting clear distance between them.

Alaric rubbed his brow, feeling a headache coming on. ‘She really does have a heart of stone, he thought.

“If there’s nothing else, please see yourself out,” Ophelia said, preparing to leave. If she didn’t hurry, she’d really be late.

But Alaric just looked helpless. “Ryan already took the car. Guess I’ll have to ride with you, Ophelia.”

Ophelia raised an eyebrow and shot him a cold look. “Mr. Caldwell, ever heard of taxis?”

‘Did he really have Ryan take the car just so he could mooch a ride off me? Ophelia thought.

“I’m broke,” Alaric said, like it was totally normal.

Ophelia sighed, rubbing her forehead, and gritted her teeth. “Then you can walk back.”

With that, she got into the car.

Alaric just stood there by the car, his big, pitiful eyes locked on her, looking for all the world like a puppy about to be abandoned.

She felt like her chest was about to burst, this guy was driving her crazy.

She closed her eyes, gave Alaric a frustrated look, and said irritably, “Are you getting in or not?”

Alaric was grinning from ear to ear as he jumped into the car, looking way too pleased with himself.

Ophelia was white-knuckling the steering wheel, barely keeping her cool.

She couldn’t even figure out why she’d let Alaric get in.

She knew he was totally faking it, and it’s not like he’d actually be stranded if she ditched him. Still, she let him in.

Alaric buckled his seatbelt, giving her a playful, affectionate look. “Ophelia, I knew you couldn’t bring yourself to leave me behind.”

‘I really want to kick him out right now. What should I do?’ Ophelia thought.

Taking a deep, steadying breath, Ophelia could only strive to ignore Alaric’s irritating smile as she asked, her emotions barely in check, “Where are you going? To the Caldwell residence?”

‘Whatever, I’ll just drop him off first,’ she thought.

‘Guess I’m doomed to be late today, she muttered to herself.

Alaric glanced at her and gave her an address. “Could you drop me off at the Lotus Vista Club, Ophelia?”

Screech!

Ophelia had just started the car when she slammed on the brakes.

“Where did you say you wanted to go?” Ophelia’s voice shot up without her meaning to.

‘Lotus Vista Club? Wait, that’s where I’m supposed to meet Ella too!’ she thought, suddenly realizing the coincidence.

Alaric caught a hint of suspicion in his eyes. “Ophelia, you seem pretty concerned about the Lotus Vista Club.”

‘Why’s she freaking out like that? Is there something up with that place?’ he wondered.
