Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 146

146.Chapter 146

Thinking back to how she kept saying she was busy, it suddenly occurred to Alaric, ‘Wait, is she heading to the Lotus Vista Club too?’

‘But if that’s true, why is she so keen to hide it from me?’ he thought.

‘Who is she planning to meet there, anyway?’

Noticing Alaric watching her, Ophelia kept her cool, acting like nothing was wrong. She was seriously worried, if she slipped up even a little, Alaric would catch on in a heartbeat.

When it came to who she really was, she had zero intention of letting it slip to anyone, and Alaric was the last person she wanted finding out.

Honestly, this guy was a total handful. Until that engagement was officially off, she had to keep things on the down-low and stay out of the spotlight.

Not seeing anything off in her face, Alaric just looked away.

“Where are you headed after you drop me off, Ophelia?” Alaric asked, acting all casual.

Her eyes flickered, she knew he was still onto her.

“I’m meeting a friend to go shopping at Eastview Mall,” Ophelia said, just making something up on the spot, and she made sure to pick a place that was in the opposite direction from the Lotus Vista Club.

Alaric looked at her, a faint smile tugging at his lips.

‘This girl’s way too sly, Alaric thought. ‘She’s obviously trying to throw me off by picking the opposite direction. No way I’m buying that.’

Ophelia didn’t expect to actually fool Alaric, she was just throwing out an answer to shut him up. As long as he didn’t find out about the Lotus Vista Club, that was all that mattered.

Both of them preoccupied with their own thoughts, they finally pulled up at the Lotus Vista Club. Ophelia watched Alaric get out, then drove away.

Sure enough, she headed off toward Eastview Mall, just like she’d claimed. Alaric shook his head, a quiet chuckle escaping him.

“Mr. Caldwell, you’re here,” Ryan said, already waiting for him. As soon as he saw Alaric, he stepped forward. “Mr. Sterling is already here and waiting for you.”

“Alright, let’s go up,” Alaric replied, his gaze cool as he walked into the Lotus Vista Club.

But as soon as he stepped inside, he saw a shadow flash by, and his gaze instantly sharpened.

“Go check out who that was,” Alaric said, already heading off before anyone could respond.

Ryan glanced over at the person Alaric had told him to check out. The girl was acting all suspicious, hiding behind a tall potted plant, her eyes glued to Alaric the whole time.

Only after Alaric stepped into the elevator did she finally breathe a sigh of relief, pat her chest, and hurry out the door.

Ryan couldn’t help but blink. ‘This girl is seriously weird, he thought.

She looked super nervous around Alaric, like she was scared he’d notice her.

‘But we don’t even know this girl. Did she do something shady to Mr. Caldwell or what? Why’s she acting so guilty?’ Ryan wondered.

After passing on the order to investigate, Ryan just shrugged it off and rushed to catch up with Alaric.

Meanwhile, Ella, who was already on Alaric’s radar, stood at the entrance of the club, still a little freaked out as she tried to calm herself down.

She was on the phone with Ophelia when she looked up and saw Alaric. Instinctively, she hid herself behind a potted plant.

“Thank goodness he didn’t spot me,” Ella muttered, then hesitated, frowning. “Pretty sure he didn’t, right?”

‘Whatever, Alaric doesn’t even know me. As long as he doesn’t catch me hanging out with Ophelia, I’m in the clear, she reassured herself.
