149.Chapter 149
Ophelia kept her cool, her face tight with focus. She was good, but these guys were clearly tough, and there were four of
them.
She slipped past a burly man’s swing, but two more came at her, fists flying. She caught one punch, lashed out with a kick at the second, barely dodged another sneak attack.
Ophelia was fighting hard, but she was getting boxed in, no way to break free for now.
Her eyes narrowed. She knew this couldn’t go on. The longer she dragged it out, the harder it would be to get away.
Suddenly, three of them closed in on her. After fending them off in quick succession, Ophelia unleashed a powerful kick at the last guy charging her, sending him crashing straight toward Abigail.
“Ouch!” Abigail was caught off guard and went crashing to the ground, totally embarrassed.
Abigail was so mad she lost it, scrambling to her feet, her eyes wild with fury.
“You idiots! What good are you? Can’t even grab a little girl?” Abigail spat, panting with rage.
“Hurry up! While Cameron’s still home, get her back here!” Abigail barked, barely holding back her temper. She’d deal with Ophelia once they got her inside.
Lately, Cameron barely ever came home, and now that he was finally back, Abigail was determined to use this chance to have him take care of that brat.
‘Cameron?’ Ophelia frowned, the name flashing through her mind.
‘Is Cameron involved in this too?’ she wondered, her brow furrowing.
Just a moment’s distraction was all it took, Ophelia found herself caught off guard. One guy snatched her wrist before she could react, and another twisted her other arm behind her back, leaving her helpless.
“Get her in the car! Hurry up and take her back!” Abigail was so worked up she was almost jumping out of her skin.
Ophelia struggled, but no matter how hard she tried, she just couldn’t match the guys’ strength. Her eyes grew even sharper, a dangerous glint flashing in them.
‘Looks like I’ll have to use some tricks…’ Ophelia thought, her mind racing for a way out.
Just as she was about to pull out some powder from her pocket, Abigail sneered, Quit struggling and come with me. We’ll settle this in front of the whole family.” She shot Ophelia a venomous glare, looking smug as hell.
‘Just you wait, brat. I’ll make you pay when we get back, Abigail thought, her eyes full of malice.
But Ophelia had calmed down. ‘In front of the whole family?’ she wondered.
‘Did Cameron really put them up to this?’ Ophelia thought, her mind racing.
‘Is he out of his mind?’ she wondered, disbelief flashing through her.
Seeing Ophelia keep quiet, Abigail figured she’d scared her into submission. She let out a smug huff and climbed into the
car.
Ophelia got shoved into the car by the goons. She could’ve put up more of a fight, but curiosity got the better of her, she needed to know what Cameron was playing at.
As soon as the two cars pulled away, a Rolls-Royce tailed them.
“Mr. Caldwell, we just missed them,” Ryan said, frustration clear in his voice.
They’d just left the Lotus Vista Club when they saw Ophelia in trouble across the street. By the time they rushed over, they could only watch helplessly as she was dragged away.
Alaric’s eyes were cold and dark, his voice icy. “Follow them.”
Ryan floored it, his eyes glued to the cars ahead, not daring to blink for fear of losing them.
Alaric leaned back in his seat, his whole presence so cold it made the air feel like ice.
