Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 154

154.Chapter 154

“Cameron, help me! You can’t just abandon me! Please, help me…” Abigail’s desperate cries faded into the distance.

Once Abigail’s pleas were gone, Ophelia let out a long breath, her expression tinged with speechless disbelief. ‘Does Abigail really think I’m still that same Ophelia Vossen who just let them walk all over me?’ Ophelia thought, shaking her head.

‘Seriously, she’s so naive and clueless, Ophelia scoffed inwardly.

‘If Aaron getting sent to prison couldn’t wake her up, maybe a stint in jail will finally knock some sense into her, Ophelia thought, her expression cold and unyielding.

Ophelia looked up at Alaric, her eyes cool and steady. “Let’s go.”

Deep down, she was shocked, and her mind was buzzing with questions. But she knew now wasn’t the time to ask, she’d just have to hold it in until they left.

“Ophelia, wait up,” Cameron blurted out, hurrying after her with a nervous, almost pleading tone. “Since you’re back, maybe you could stay and have dinner with us?”

“Dinner?” Ophelia raised an eyebrow, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “You actually have the nerve to invite me to dinner right now?”

‘His oldest son just got sent to prison, his wife was just dragged off by the cops, and he still thinks it’s time for a family meal?’ Ophelia thought, utterly incredulous.

‘This guy isn’t just selfish, he’s a total heartless idiot,’ Ophelia scoffed to herself.

Cameron knew it was the worst possible timing, but seeing Ophelia was rare. He gave a weak, awkward smile, trying desperately to win her over. “I just wanted to say sorry on your mom’s behalf.

“She messed up, but now that she’s been taken away, can’t you just let bygones be bygones?”

“Don’t bother apologizing. She’ll get what’s coming to her,” Ophelia said, her gaze cold as ice. Then she turned to Alaric. “Let’ s go.”

“Yeah,” Alaric murmured, following Ophelia out without so much as a glance at Cameron and Layla.

Layla’s eyes sparkled as she watched Alaric. ‘Wow, he’s insanely good-looking, and he’s got that whole mysterious aura going on, she thought, totally captivated.

‘Who did they say he was just now?’ Layla wondered, her mind spinning.

‘Isn’t he Ophelia’s sugar daddy?’ Layla mused, her gaze sharpening with interest.

‘If he’s into that sort of thing, maybe I could try my luck too…’ Layla thought, a sly grin creeping onto her face. Cameron watched as Ophelia disappeared from sight, then crashed down onto the couch, feeling like the world had just collapsed around him.

‘Are we totally screwed now?’ Cameron thought, a wave of hopelessness washing over him.

Once they were out of the Vossen residence, Ophelia finally couldn’t help but ask, “What are you doing here?”

“I was just leaving the Lotus Vista Club when I saw you getting dragged away, so I rushed over,” Alaric replied honestly, a flicker of relief crossing his eyes as he looked at her.

‘Thank God I saw it, and thank God I got there in time. If I hadn’t, she definitely would’ve gotten hurt, Alaric thought, his heart still pounding.

Ophelia nodded, finally understanding. ‘No wonder he showed up just in time to save me,’ she thought.

“Hop in,” Alaric said, holding the door open for her. Ophelia gave him a quick glance, then got into the car.

She’d been brought here against her will, and her own car was still parked across from the Lotus Vista Club. Right now, she could only ask Alaric to give her a lift.

The car rolled away from the Vossen residence.

Alaric leaned back in his seat, his eyes dark as he looked at Ophelia. “Were the Vossen family always like this to you?”

Ophelia sighed. “They always favored the boys over the girls, but they never actually hit me. This time, Abigail just snapped because she was cornered.”

She’d never really felt any real warmth at home,
