155.Chapter 155
Rowan Draven was pretty much a legend in the business, with a real knack for finance and venture capital. The wildest thing? Nobody actually knew what Rowan looked like. The only way to work with her was through her assistant.
But who could’ve guessed Rowan was really Ophelia Rowie, a college student!
Ophelia locked up at him, meeting his amused gaze, and only just realized, Cameron had outed her as Rowan Draven.
She couldn’t help but massage her temples with her thumb, feeling so frustrated she could cry, but not a single tear would
come
She and Ella had snuck off hoping to keep Alaric in the dark, but now everything was out in the open.
Yeah, I guess it was just because things were pretty rough for me, so I wanted to make life better,” Ophelia admitted, figuring there was no use hiding it now that Alaric knew.
Over the years, she did anything that paid, picking up a ton of skills along the way. Back then, she figured the more she could do, the better off she’d be
“I get it. So, any chance 1, Alaric Caldwell, could work with Ms. Draven?” Alaric said, a teasing glint in his eyes.
Rowan was the kind of financial legend everyone in the business wanted on their team. Alaric had always wanted to recruit someone like her, and now that he knew it was Ophelia, he was even more determined not to let her slip away.
He couldn’t help but wonder, what was she like when she was actually working?
Was she still that effortlessly cool, even on the job?
But out of nowhere, Ryan chimed in, “Mr. Caldwell, if you want to work with Ms. Draven, you’ll have to go through her assistant first. I’ll reach out tomorrow and see what I can do.”
He had no idea why Mr. Caldwell suddenly brought up Rowan with Ophelia, but as the assistant, he knew he had to step in and handle it right away.
But Alaric’s voice cut in, cool and commanding. “No need for all that. Just ask Dr. Rowle directly.”
“Why ask Dr. Rowle?” Ryan still had no clue what was going on, looking totally lost as he glanced back at them through the rearview mirror.
“Because Dr. Rowle is Ms. Draven herself. Asking her is way more straightforward than going through her assistant,” Alaric said, a teasing note in his voice. ‘Damn, she’s been hiding this for years. Nobody ever saw through her act, he thought.
If he hadn’t stumbled onto this by accident today, who knows when he would’ve ever found out the truth.
“Wait, Dr. Rowle is Ms. Draven?” Ryan echoed, the realization finally dawning on him. Then he blurted out, voice shooting up in shock, “Dr. Rowle is Ms. Draven!”
‘No wonder Mr. Caldwell said Rowan Draven caught him off guard earlier. I was so slow, I didn’t get it at all,’ Ryan thought.
But Ryan was so stunned that he slammed on the brakes, bringing the car to a sudden halt right there.
The sudden stop sent Ophelia and Alaric lurching forward, almost crashing into the front seats.
Ryan snapped his head around to look at Ophelia, his voice shaking. “Dr. Rowle, are you really Rowan Draven?”
The news was just too much, he was so stunned, his mind couldn’t even process it.
Ophelia shook her head, torn between laughter and exasperation. “You really don’t have to be this shocked.”
