Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 157

157.Chapter 157

Ophelia lowered her eyes to Alaric, his head resting gently on her shoulder. If she tilted her head just a bit, her lips would be dangerously close to his forehead.

Her breath gently caressed his forehead, again and again, like a feather brushing by, each touch sending a shiver through him.

Alaric’s eyes narrowed, his gaze growing noticeably darker.

The air was silent, filled with an unspoken intimacy that hung between them.

Alaric’s gaze slowly drifted over to her, and when their eyes locked, Ophelia’s breath caught for a moment. Instinctively, she gave him a sudden shove.

Alaric was totally caught off guard and almost slammed into the car door. He couldn’t help but smirk, “Ophelia, are you trying to murder your husband?”

‘Wow, this girl’s got some serious strength. Was that really necessary?’ Alaric thought.

“Who told you to get all up in my space for no reason?” Ophelia retorted, clearly embarrassed, rolling her eyes at him. After a beat, Ophelia realized what he’d just said and snapped, “Shut up! Husband? Please, we have nothing going on.” Watching her puff up like an angry kitten, Alaric couldn’t help but smile. ‘She’s even cuter when she’s all riled up,’ he thought.

“What are you laughing at?” Ophelia shot him a glare. Every time he smiled, she just wanted to smack him.

‘This guy always knows how to get under my skin. He keeps dancing around my boundaries, Ophelia grumbled to herself. Alaric smirked, raising an eyebrow at her. “I’m just in a good mood.”

Ophelia rolled her eyes. ‘He’s totally messing with me and still says he’s in a good mood? Seriously, he needs to be put in his place, she thought.

“Ophelia, since you didn’t turn down my offer, that means you’re personally coming to the Caldwell Group to discuss the project,” Alaric said, a smug glint in his eyes. “I’ll be waiting for you.”

Ophelia’s lips curled in exasperation. ‘Dealing with this guy is like tiptoeing through a minefield,’ she thought.

Not bothering to argue, Ophelia gave him a cold, dismissive glance. “I never agreed to anything.”

‘Don’t play word games with me. Just because I didn’t say no doesn’t mean I said yes. Consider this my official rejection,’ Ophelia thought.

With that, Ophelia pushed open the car door and got out.

She was dead set on keeping her distance from him.

Watching her walk away, Alaric couldn’t help but feel a pang of emptiness in his chest.

‘Just like that? She really is heartless, he thought.

It wasn’t until her figure disappeared through the villa’s doorway that he let out a soft laugh and shook his head. ‘What a heartless girl. Didn’t even bother to invite me in for a minute,’ he mused.

Leaning back in his seat, Alaric’s gaze grew dark as he stared ahead. His voice was cool and commanding as he said, “Let’s go.”

As far as he was concerned, her rejection didn’t mean a thing.

He always had a way of getting her to show up at the office to see him.

Ryan snuck a glance at his boss, Alaric looked a bit dark, but not really mad. Ryan secretly breathed a sigh of relief. ‘Guess | won’t be exiled to a foreign country this time, he thought.

Meanwhile, Ophelia walked into the Rowle residence.

“Ophelia!” Owen called out, sounding a bit nosy. “I saw Mr. Caldwell drop you off. Were you out with him or something?”

Ophelia couldn’t help but sigh and rub her forehead. ‘Seriously, what goes on in this kid’s head at his age?’ she thought.

“Don’t let your imagination run wild, Owen. My car broke down, and Liust happened to run into Mr. Caldwell, so I hitched a ride with him,” Ophelia said, ruffling his hair as Successfully unlocked!

As for what happened with the Vossen family, she figure it was better not to tell her family, no need to drag them into her
