Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 160

160 Chapter 160

160.Chapter 160

Zoe could only force a guilty smile and go along with Chloe’s words. “Ophelia, don’t take it the wrong way. If the car really isn’t safe, then of course you should get a new one.”

Zoe didn’t even have a car herself, and now Ophelia was about to have two, both absolute luxury beasts. The jealousy was driving Zoe insane, but she still had to put on a show of being generous and act like she supported the whole thing. ‘How could I not hate her for this?’ Zoe seethed inside.

Victoria’s eyes were filled with concern as she agreed, “Ophelia, maybe you should just listen to Oliver and get a new car.”

Ophelia clung to Victoria’s arm, her voice soft and a little pouty. “Really, Mom, you don’t have to worry. I don’t need a new car.”

Then she looked over at Oliver, trying to negotiate. “How about you have someone check the car out thoroughly? If it’s really safe, I’ll keep driving it.”

That should be enough to put everyone’s mind at ease. Honestly, getting another car was just way over the top for her.

The Rowle family might have money to burn, but Ophelia wasn’t about to let them waste it just because she’d made up a story to hide the truth.

After all these years, she’d gotten used to being practical with money. No matter how rich the family was, she’d never waste a dime, every cent had to be spent where it actually counted.

Seeing how firm Ophelia was, Oliver gave in with a nod. “Alright.”

“Okay,” Victoria agreed, but she still reminded Oliver seriously, “Just make sure they inspect it thoroughly. No safety risks left behind.”

“Don’t worry, Mom. I’ll have the dealership assign their top mechanics,” Oliver replied. His tone was as cool as ever, but his words were oddly reassuring.

Victoria nodded, finally looking satisfied and relaxed.

“It’s getting late. Everyone, go get some rest,” Victoria said, then shot Oliver a meaningful look. “You don’t get home this early often, so take it easy for once, okay? Don’t bury yourself in work tonight.”

Oliver was perfect in every way, except he was obsessed with work. Seriously, work was his whole world.

“Yeah, I’ll get some rest,” Oliver replied, but still made a beeline for his study.

Victoria let out a helpless sigh. ‘See? I knew it, she thought, exasperated.

One by one, the group drifted off to their rooms to rest for the night.

Zoe’s room was the only one with the lights still on.

She was so mad she could explode, there was no way she was getting any sleep tonight:

‘Are Ophelia and I just destined to clash? Why does my luck run out the second she comes back?’ Zoe fumed, her thoughts in a whirl.

‘Everything here was supposed to be mine! Now I just have to watch everything I deserve get taken away from me, bit by bit. How am I supposed to swallow that?’ Zoe seethed, resentment burning in her chest.

The next day.

The morning sun spilled across the sky like a rosy haze, bathing everything in a warm, golden glow.

With her car sent off for inspection, Ophelia couldn’t drive herself today.

She turned down Zoe’s invite to ride together and just called a taxi to get to campus.

Honestly, Ophelia had zero interest in faking that whole sisterly act with that little schemer. It’s not like they were close

anyway.

‘Let her gloat while she can. Just wait till she gets to school, she’s in for a rude awakening, Zoe thought, resentment flashing in her eyes. The thought of what was about to happen to Ophelia sent a shiver of excitement down her spine.

Ophelia didn’t even spare Zoe a glance before heading out ahead of her.
