Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 162

162 Chapter 162

162.Chapter 162

‘So this is what all the fuss is about, Ophelia realized, seeing that Daphne had dragged her whole crew over just to pick a fight about this.

“Because you’re throwing the whole class into chaos! You’re gonna tank everyone’s grades. Or is that what you want?

“Mess things up for everyone else so you can come out on top?” Daphne shot back, her voice dripping with self-righteous fury.

Ophelia gave Daphne a long look, then swept her gaze over the others, eyebrow raised. “So, is that what you all think? That I’ m the one causing trouble here?”

A few of the girls nodded, while others just shrugged or looked away awkwardly.

Truth was, Ophelia hadn’t really done anything. They were just worried.

“What else do you expect? You showed up just once yesterday and already stirred up a whole mess. If you keep coming to training, you’ll totally throw everyone off,” Daphne blurted out, getting flustered when the others stayed silent.

Daphne was dead set on getting Ophelia out of the training class. That was the only way to make sure Ophelia didn’t ace the competition.

Ophelia let out a cold laugh, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “Wow, you really went all out, didn’t you? Rounding up all these people. You must’ve put a lot of effort into this.”

‘No wonder I don’t recognize any of these girls. They must be from other classes in the training program, Ophelia thought.

“I’m just looking out for everyone,” Daphne said, chin held high, looking like a rooster ready to fight, her eyes full of hostility toward Ophelia.

“Wow, you’re really all about the greater good, huh? Especially since this competition doesn’t even concern you,” Ophelia replied, nodding with exaggerated admiration.

But the biting sarcasm in Ophelia’s words made Daphne’s face drain of color, then flush with embarrassment and anger.

Ophelia was basically rubbing it in that Daphne didn’t even have the qualifications to compete, yet was so obsessed with the whole thing, just sticking her nose where it didn’t belong.

“Alright, since that’s what you all want, I’ll go along with it,” Ophelia replied, cool as ever. She tossed her backpack over her shoulder, chin held high, and strode into the school without giving them a second glance.

Ophelia hadn’t joined the training class to cram for the competition, she just wanted to keep a low profile and not draw too much attention.

Winning a prize? She was sure she could do it, and that was exactly why Connor wanted her in the mix. By joining the training, she hoped everyone would just think she was another student who worked hard for it, not some prodigy. But of course, someone just had to ruin her plans. Fine, if Daphne wants her gone, Ophelia would play along.

Watching Ophelia just walk off like that, the whole group was left frozen in place, not sure what to do next.

“Did she… really say yes?” one of them blurted out, still trying to wrap her head around it. ‘This can’t be real, can it?’ she thought.

“I think so,” someone replied under their breath.

Daphne watched as Ophelia just walked away, feeling like her chest was stuffed with cotton, tight, suffocating, and miserable.

It was like she’d swung with all her might, only to hit nothing but air, leaving her totally deflated and defeated.

‘Was it really that easy? Just like that?’ Daphne thought, still in disbelief.

‘Something’s not right here, she couldn’t help but think, unease creeping in.

But… Ophelia really did agree.

Without thinking, Daphne glanced at the girls around her. ‘Is that it? Did Ophelia finally get scared just because we had the numbers this time?’ she wondered.

But no matter what, Daphne just felt stifled and pissed off inside, it was enough to make her want to scream.
