Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 169

169 Chapter 169

169.Chapter 169

Even though Ophelia was talking about chemistry, Chloe couldn’t shake the feeling that Ophelia was hinting she knew all about poisons, and how to cure them.

‘So, was it Ophelia who noticed and got rid of the poison last time?’ Chloe wondered.

‘No wonder Chloe saw Ophelia drink it and nothing happened, she thought.

Seeing Chloe’s face shift through a dozen emotions, Ophelia smirked. “It’s nothing, really. Just making small talk. Mind if I head upstairs now?”

“Huh?” Chloe felt a cold sweat trickle down her back. ‘Why does Ophelia suddenly give me the creeps?’ she thought.

‘Why did that send chills down my spine?’ Chloe wondered.

When Chloe didn’t answer, Ophelia shot her a frosty look, then got up and strode toward the elevator.

The elevator had just stopped on the fourth floor before it started going down.

‘Fourth floor… Figures, it was Zoe, Ophelia thought.

‘So Zoe was up to something in my room, and Chloe was down here acting as her lookout; Ophelia realized.

Ophelia quickly pieced it all together, kept her cool, and headed upstairs.

As soon as the elevator doors slid shut, Chloe’s legs gave out and she collapsed onto the couch.

When Ophelia got back to her room, she could tell someone had been snooping around. A quick look showed nothing was missing, but her study materials had been thoroughly rummaged through.

“That little schemer still hasn’t learned a thing,” Ophelia scoffed, not even bothered as she headed to the bathroom for a shower.

‘So Zoe was after my math contest materials. She must be terrified I’ll beat her, Ophelia thought.

‘Daphne tried to get me kicked out of the training class, and now Zoe’s snooping through my stuff for my notes. Nice teamwork, you two, Ophelia thought.

‘Alright then, time to show you what I can really do…’ Ophelia smirked to herself.

The next day.

Ophelia got up and headed downstairs.

In the dining room, Zoe and Victoria were already there.

“Mom,” Ophelia greeted Victoria, then turned her gaze to Zoe.

Their eyes met, and for a split second, Zoe looked flustered, but it was gone in an instant.

Zoe flashed a sweet, caring smile. “Morning, Ophelia. Chloe said you got home pretty late last night. Did you sleep well?”

“I slept just fine,” Ophelia replied, her tone indifferent, barely glancing at Zoe before turning away.

“Mom, I’m heading out of Dunhollow for a few days,” Ophelia said, getting straight to the point.

Zoe’s eyes widened. “Where are you headed, Ophelia?”

“Yeah, Ophelia, how long will you be gone?” Victoria asked, sounding worried.

“I’m going to Clearwater City to handle a few things. Should take about a week,” Ophelia said honestly. She always made sure Victoria knew what was going on so she wouldn’t worry.

“A whole week?” Zoe put on a conflicted look, hesitating. “But the competition will be right after you get back. Aren’t you going to review at all?”

“Yeah, I won’t have time to review,” Ophelia replied with a calm nod, not a hint of regret or worry on her face.

“Really? Won’t that affect your score?” Zoe asked, her voice full of concern, though her eyes practically lit up with excitement, even if she tried to hide it.

‘She’s actually leaving for that long? No training, no practice. Let’s see how she manages to get a good score now, Zoe thought.
